No because the difference is the Devils have been very good for 2 decades and are now going through their first serious adversity in all that time. Isle's and Leaf's have been terrible for more than 2 decades and after making the playoffs in a shortened year think their hot $hit.

I think the Flyers defense would be good on a different team. Hawks defense is very mobile and is just trying to possess the puck the entire time.

you could be right. but in this system they are mediocre. they go all out for offense and then get caught pinching a lot.
Other than Kimmo we dont have a dman who can play both ways well. And even he's slowing down.
Streit all offense
Schenn is still quite slow and got caught pinching quite a bit
Coburn is very fast but turns the puck over quite a bit
Grossmann is a pretty solid stay at home dman.
Mezzy is an unknown due to injury. Who knows how he'll be.
Gustaffsson still young, makes quite a few mistakes, doesnt have the speed to get back on his mistakes

If our (frank)ing coaches would get our DEFENSE to start playing a DEFENSIVE game, like they should be, we'd be fine. However it has to be all offense -_-

Now that you guys have some top tier prospects maybe you can actually develop a few that you drafted in the top 10. You've had lots of practice with that. And since we will have more money to spend than most other teams next year, two big FAs can change the team's outlook in a hurry. By then the franchise may be led by Adam Larsson...the guy rated higher than any of your D prospects have been. But you probably think he's a bust. Just adding Schneider makes us better than last year.

Luckily you guys have Nabokov to backstop you along with that defense led by Travis Hamonic, the guy who shut down Crosby and Malkin to the tune of -4 with 1 point in the playoffs. I would not be at all surprised to see the Devils finish ahead of the Islanders in the standings next year.

I personally agree with you. Both Islanders and Leafs fans should learn to deal with success in the same classy and dignified manner that us Rangers fans deal with it.

Defense is honestly a wash with you guys losing Streit and I fully expect Larsson to take a big step this year.

I haven't done that at all. I've visited Devils blogs because I was disgusted with Clowe's contract, not to bash the Devils for picking up a new franchise goalie in Schneider (who I think can easily be a top 10 starter long term, if not better) or because Kovy pulled a Richard move.

Overall I'm disgusted by the behavior of the GM's this offseason in repeating the same crap that got us into the lockout, I just happen to consider Clowe's contract the worst value for player signed this offseason, so I started here.

I can't even fack with you guys. I think what happened is BS, absolute BS. I'd be one pissed off puppy if that happened. Believe me as an Isles fan and the BS we have been through I can relate. With that said a Devils team without Kovalchuck is fine by me as an Isles fan. Another team weaker in our division is good. Your team has a way of always exceeding expectations though I have a hard time seeing you guys digging yourselves out of this one? This sure hasn't helped Russian players in the NHL that's for sure.
