I like Morin, and I think there is a chance he could become anything from a 2nd pairing guy up to maybe a top 10 defender in the league. But really this blog is just trying to set people's mind at ease because they did reach to get him. You can call it reach or a gamble that his potential pans out. I think there were safer picks. I dont think it was a good gamble to make considering where the Flyers are with thier defensive situation. Maybe if the Flyers still had Pronger and Timonen wasn't ready to retire, but IMO it just isn't a good time to gamble such a high pick...

Why would Meltzer write a blog to set people's minds at ease over the Flyers pick?

I think after Jones, Ristolainen and Nurse then after Nichushkin went at 10 there was a group of about 8 defensive prospects that shook out together. They could have gone in any order. We got two of them. I think they did a good job. The safe picks you're lusting after have about the same chance as Morin and Hagg of developing into first line NHL defensemen.

We'll all have to wait and see. They definitely went for size with the Morin pick.

actually they asked him to start playing defense. boom! gone.

i dont know if this was talked about. Anyone think this would have changed the devils draft/trade weekend. I heard that the devils knew he had ideas of leaving, but i am not convinced they expected it this quick. looking back and not taking nicushin(sp?) could haunt them.

Can Schneider play forward?

He's a Devil. He has his role and he'll play it or he'll be an Oiler.

Well Elias will score his usual 2 goals/game. Brodeur will stop 43 of the 45 shots we face and we'll lose every game 3-2.

We're going to get killed all season by everyone.

What does next years draft look like? Isn't the next Phenom coming out in 2014?

Either Morin is 8 feet tall, or Mckay is Darren Pang with hair.

225 appears a bit modest.... Must be the camera angle. He doesn't look 6'0"...

Some sort of stomach flu... Still recovering.
I felt bad though cuz the fiancee didn't get to see his mom in the hospital last night. Settled on calling her. We didn't want to risk exposing her to what I had.

Not the most flattering pic. I will say, I saw camp Monday and the kid was in Reese's ear a lot. good for him to get the invite and get the chance to work with NHL coaches.

Meltzer's got a plan with a back up plan that's completely resistant to Chaos. He's like Maxwell Smart.

No he's well versed in the team's tendency to acquire injury prone broke down veterans.

Your mood reflects the weather this summer. Hot, sticky and stormy.

What's it going to take to ease your mood? Internet hugs? Take a look at your wife... you've already out kicked your coverage for life. What's to be gloomy about?

C'mon Joe, give us a little sunshine.

HAHAHA. I doubt I lose that much. Although I counted it up and in the last 3 days I've had less than 1200 calories. So yeah this blows.
