Being a Flyers fan, we are in no position to gloat over another organization's bad/unfortunate moves/contracts. We gave up essentially 4 first rd picks for 2 years of Pronger and still have to accomodate his cap hit with LTIR for four more years. We paid an average goalie $39M for less than 2 full seasons of mediocre work.

"We?" No wonder you think your cable bill is tied to the team.

Further, we really ought not be casting stones at other franchises for front loaded contracts, in specific. Four of them were forged in our front office.

I thought I read that if he ever wanted to come back to the NHL, the Board of Govenors have to vote on it, and it has to be unanimus?

sorry, um, I think we are in the best position to do so.
why should we suffer alone.
For example, Buffalo and Ville have made me gloat many times.

Anytime I see posters criticizing a bad contract/trade by another team, I just shake my head as the Flyers are one of the worst offenders.

It wasn't an unfortunate move. It was a deliberate attempt to cheat the system on an unparalleled scale that the Devils chose to pursue in spite of warnings from the NHL. It blew up in their face and I couldn't be more delighted.

There's no comparison between what they did with Kovalchuk and what the Flyers did in trading for one of the best defenseman in the league who played at a very high level until he happened to get a terrible injury, or in overpaying for a mediocre goalie.

Just for my understanding of the Cap and LTIR.

Ive capgeeked with Flyers not keeping Laughton and waiving/demoting Bourdon and Gervais. This gives the Flyers 490.7K in cap space. Now say they recall another forward after Pronger goes on LTIR, is the only real risk overages that may be caused by bonuses from the contracts of Couturier and B Schenn?

From my understanding, once that 490K cap space is used up, the LTIR allowance must be used which will not account for potential performance bonuses. Am I misunderstanding or missing anything about the flyers opperating so close to the cap and possibly using LTIR?

just kinda bored so looking at previous drafts and as much praise as 03 and 98 gets, the 79 draft is pretty crazy. 81.7% of the players drafted that year played in the NHL.
- nastyflyergirl

That was the first year the draft was officially opened to 19-year-old players (lowered to 18 in 1981). Before that, draft was for 20 year olds.

I swear. By the moon and the stars in the sky... I'll be there.

Year I could never get back. Listening to boy II men, Seal, I believe I can fly, and all that other BS on the way home from school on the bus....

I despise Rap, Hip-hop, R&B, and Pop.... It all started with "Whoop there it is...."

"It" refers to my hatred for everything "pop". I even hate people that hate "pop" just because of the anti-pop movement. I hate phoneys too.

Ok enough of my Holden impression.

Thanks for clarifying. Based on this I don't see a real need to make a bad trade of one of the defensemen with a higher salary.

"Whoop there it is" was very popular with that '93 Phillies team and you can hear fans yelling it in replays of some of those key games in the playoffs if you watch replays.
