as of right now its just fan.. singular

A lot can happen in 13-15 years, hell a lot can happen in 5 years. Love Pietrangelo, but consider me a conservative gm. Just because a guy is a franchise d-man today doesn't mean he will be in 4 to 5 years. All you need is one injury, or a change in style of the broader NHL game. As an example....Dion Phaneuf was a franchise player as recent as 2008. Buffalo fans thought they had their franchise d-man in Myers. Giving up Gardiner, Franson, a 1st and 2nd.......that's a big price to pay. What if we suck next season? What if that 1st becomes top pick, what if its Ekblad?

Thats alot of what ifs......... what we do know is that he is a stud TODAY. Agree alot can happen in the future. Including Gardiner busting his legs, Franson not panning out, the first round and second round picks become duds.

I'm the type of GM that would take what I know today as opposed to wondering what may become of someone later.
