if strome is ready and is happy being on the wing...id blow up the current top line and have it look like this:
Clutterbuck- JT - Strome
id be thrilled for the isles to trade moulson and get a top 4 guy. - LetsGoIsles
Even though Moulson puts up pts and he's a three time 30 goal scorer it'd still be Moulson + |

The guy is hard to watch and deplorable on the other side of the puck, one of those players that I have no idea how he puts up points. Mailed it in more than usual last year IMO - Cptmjl
He was on pace for a career high in points. Led the team in assists and was on pace for another 30 goals. How is that mailing it in? Yes terrible on the D side but so were a lot of other Islanders. My point is if they can go out and get a better option then great but as of now he is best the option as one of JT'S wings |

I hear ya but there wwere stretches where he just gave up on plays, doesn't back check in any way. Didn't get in the dirty areas where he used to score, seemed to be getting away from his game a bit. If there were any player I wouldn't mind being traded it'd be him if we had a suitable replacement and a decent return of course. He is deplorable defensively to the point where his plays or lack there of directly lead to opposing goals. |

Fair enough but I can't kill him when there are other guys who don't produce at all |

He got there, he just didn't have his damn stick on the ice. Frustrated me more than anything else last season...he and Boyes were both guilty of it. It's like they would just assume Tavares wasn't in position to make the pass, so they'd have their sticks casually off the ice. When playing with Tavares, expect to get the pass when you least expect it...he does have at least three defenders to fake out at any given time when making a play.
Edit -- That said, let's wait until we're actually drowning in 30-goal scorers before sending the only consistent one packing... |

Could just blow up everything and go with lines looking like...
Moulson - Tavares - Strome
Bouchard - Nelson - Grabner (Speed line)
Bailey - Nielsen - Okposo
Clutterbuck - Cizikis - Martin (Hit everything line)
(McDonald/Regin)
Then if Moulson's play continues to drop off, just drop him down to the 3rd line.

Moulson is useless if he is not in the top 6. You can't put him on a checking line he sucks on D |

trade moulson!!! (or neilson) - LetsGoIsles
Why...hard to give up on 30 goal scorers...not happening...Moulson has a good contract and has good chemistry with JT. The only way Moulson gets traded is at the deadline if he hasn't signed a new extension. Snow loves Neilsen...you might see Grabner traded though and maybe Bailey if they can't get the new contract straightened out. |

Not happening...Moulson is the 2nd best offensive player on the Islanders...look for another extension in January at 3 or 4 years at $4 mil per year...While I like Grabner, I see him traded for a veteran defenseman. |

I went into the team store after the scrimmage hoping to get some Clutterbuck gear and they didn't have any Now I know why they just announced he will be wearing 15. Regin 16 and Bouchard 96 |

The only real checking line the Isles have would be the fourth... A line consisting of Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo isnt a checking line |

moulson, ko, bailey and frans are the ones that are gonna get pushed...these are the guys that could be on the outside looking in eventually. I would strongly consider moving moulson if he truly is only a one trick pony. I want to see him take the bod and backcheck. I still feel strome starts the season in bport and is up after 20 games |

no need to respond to this comment because the bold is 100% bullpoop and speaks for itself. - LetsGoIsles
I'll try and explain this better: you have to remember that a trade is PR as much as it is value. I'm not saying they can't throw these other two or one of them or whatever in with a Strome or a Reinhart and/or a draft pick(s) for something- but they're not going to be a centerpiece for a trade involving us receiving a "star" player (even if that "star" is someone like Vanek, in which case I'd be careful how I threw that word around).
That's what I mean by those three being the only ones with (and I should have said SIGNIFICANT) trade value- you can make cr*p trades rearranging the deck chairs on the boat all day long, but if you want to get someone who is a big time upgrade, a player who puts us in a "different ZIP Code" talent wise, Moulson and/or Nielsen (or Grabner, for that matter) aren't going to make that happen, period.
Also, the reality in this case, as far as trading for need, is that forwards simply do not bring back the equivalent in defensive talent- there just aren't as many defensemen IN the NHL, for one thing. Our "first line" winger, despite potting thirty per over the last three years, in a best case scenario involving returning us a breathing adult, would most likely bring us a third pairing defenseman....that's the MOST I'd expect; more likely, it would be a middling draft choice that we'd see in that deal, as I said.
For what I'd get for either Moulson OR Nielsen, I'll keep them, thanks. Grabner, in contrast, may be an odd man out- different situation, but I can pretty much guarantee that he'd do no better on the trade market, especially if it becomes apparent that someone has taken his job, and they HAVE TO unload him. |
