Or one of my favorite Islanders Duane Sutter. - maximumcarnage
Duane is so under rated!!
When it comes to Islander fans, when you say "Sutter" most fans automatically think Brent, But Duane was one hell of a player for this team.

I think that's more on him, though- he's supposedly the one who is pi$$ed at Wang, and probably wouldn't show up for the ceremony (can't say I blame him). That said, the simple act of no longer allowing anyone to wear that sweater would probably go a long way toward fixing that deal. - dcb1
Nah its both of them. Wang is just as pissed if not more than Pat. It all started with that committee that Wang wanted the team to have but yet everyone in the committee had no real say since Wanger wanted to really be the GM. which whatever he owns the team and can do as he pleases. Pat took an unpaid role as a senior advisor which after the Neil firing Pat knew his role meant jack cause anything he said fell on def ears, so he resigned. Why waste your time trying to help someone or an organization that has a stubborn ignorant person at the helm? This brought out to the hockey world how Wang really is, so therefor he's pissed at Pat for that, so he's actually had photos of Pat taken down inside the Coli, never made any attempt to honor him during the 40th anniversary season, When LaFontaine & Webb biked for charity the teams website only wrote bout Webb, not a single thing about or for Pat. Still hasn't been entered into the teams own Hall of fame, thou not like Pat really cares
AND Then there's the icing on the cake. . . .
drum roll please. . . . . .
Brian Burke and Pat were going to do some charity work together and while Burke being in town on the road with the Ducks wanted to meet up to talk about it during the hockey game, Wanger had the Coli staff deny Pat a credential, a HOF NHLer... classy move, So Burke ended up buying and leaving a ticket for him so they could have their meeting, Lafontaine has never been back to the barn after that.
Rumors also have it Pat has reached out to Wanger twice trying to meet up after he resigned to smooth things over and patch things up. Both calls were never returned by Wang.
Its all these kinda things that I always say to people when it comes to the LHP and TOH/Nassau County things. Wang is a stubborn man, if people actually did some research on him they'd see they type of person he really is. He's not a savior of anything

I knew that he was a good one. I've tried for two years to lobby the Leafs Nation to try and pry this guy away from the Islanders. Too late now. - PrinceLH
I mean no offense but Snow is not trading this guy period. He is the Isles best prospect and one of the best prospects in hockey. Lobby Leafs Nation all you want, you guys ain't getting him.. |

I don't doubt Wang is a stubborn a$$. That said, the building deal went through 5 owners, with one common denominator. That's why I blame Nassau and Hempstead....that was going on for 10 years before Wang showed up. |

Wang is a facking lunatic. Watching him convulse for pictures on the draft podium is like watching Rosie O'Donnell and Tom Arnold have sex. Nobody should have too. Though these pictures crack me up

The only question I have is this: what do you think you're getting for Moulson and Nielsen? I'm just interested to know what any of you think they'll bring back other than at most a 2nd round pick.
Moulson I can see moving out IF you can get a 5-6 defenseman for him, because at a certain point he's going to be too slow for the Tavares line- you're probably eventually better off with Strome and Bouchard there, and eventually the Kabanovs and Petrovs or Lee or whoever are going to need spots, anyway. However, I just don't see what you're going to get for our best defensive center that would be worth it- I don't think he'd bring back much, and I'd rather see him out there with Okposo and Bailey, taking on the other team's first line at least for this year, than HOPE Cizikas is ready for that role. - dcb1
tyler kennedy was traded for a 2nd round pick. Moulson is getting MUCH more...sorry but you're flat out wrong on his value.

If moulson or nielsen are going to be traded...it has to be with the right kind of trading partner. If im Snow, Im looking straight at Nashville. A team that couldnt score with an empty net for a full 60 minutes. They have an insane amount of quality defenseman, whether they are on the NHL roster or within their farm system. A team like that would without a doubt part with a top 4 dman for moulson and a lower round pick. |

You don't know? He can't walk on water for starters. Second he only scores 30 goals a season. Third he is the only consistent 30 goal scorer on the roster |

That's my REAL argument....I just don't believe I'm getting worthy value for him, and he's not a spare part, at this time.....this is ESPECIALLY true of Nielsen, who, if for once and for all actually GIVEN the job, WILL be a top end third line center. You can see how he defends up the middle, and know that if he wasn't trying so hard to be a SECOND line center, he'd be so much better at his craft than he has time to be, at this point. |

Moulson is going to be the main topic all season. He's going to be a UFA next year. Can he continue his 30 goals per season? Will Snow shop him around to see what value he has? If in a playoff race, will he not trade him and risk losing him? Are the young guys ready to step in if he leaves? Will JT start with rookies at his side again? Anyways that's next year I can't wait for this year to start. |

Snow is going to lock him up - JT made Moulson into the player he is today and they love playing with each other (that sounded gay). I would think he's going to be resigned for 5 year/25 mill; and he's worth every penny he gets. It's not compared to other players around the league, but his value to this team. Isles need Moulson.
Nuff said. |

Moulson put up thirty goals three yrs but there are a ton of deficiencies in his game. If there were a better option I'd take it in a heart beat. I don't hate the guy but I've watched him give up on plays and stop skating far too many times. Again, don't hate him but I'm not enamored with him either. |

Moulson is a one dimensional player, that's just what he is. Moulson is a thumper. He goes to the hard places and gets the hard goals that nobody else is willing to do. Moulson isn't there to play defense, he's not there to fly around the ice; his job is to go between the hash marks, get molested and bang home the garbage. |

Yeah, that's fine but when it goes back the other way and you can stop it from happening you do just that, don't just glide back to the bench. Boyes seemed to have an effect on him last season. It's ok to be offense but having enough game to at least stick check someone creates even more offense. He was just as bad of not worse than boyes on far too many occasions last season. |

mouslon goes to the net..hard..and he finishes there..he is great at that..but he is not good on the boards and allergic from taking the body..i don't want to seem like I hate the guy..i don't..he is just a very limited player..i am very very skeptical to signing him to a five year deal. On a team that needs to move forward, EVERYONE plays defense, im sorry but in my opinion that's a cop out |

One of the few things I agreed that Capuano did was shifting him to another line. It was a toss up btn him and boyes. His offensive play was consistent but it seemed he forgot how to play the rest of the game. It amazes me how everyone on here forgets that bcs more than half this board wanted him gone mid season last year and that same play from him continued into the playoffs. I don't hate the guy either but he needs to become less noticeable in a negative way if you know what I'm saying? Hopefully he cleans up his game a bit this season. |

BTW Calvin DeHaan was picked the same year JT was. We were debating this the other day and ALL of us got it wrong. Crazy?
