what does this mean? 8th and 24th are for the past 8 seasons. He's 13th in G/PG over that stretch. He's never played with a true #1 C, and he's 5th in PPG over that stretch. He is an elite talent, and it is trolling putrid behavior to claim otherwise. - truthbluth

it is not, but I will tell you what is. Putrid behavior is holding yourself and your opinions higher then everyone else. Putrid behavior is calling someone with an honest belief a troll. Your Putrid behavior is why it is so hard to be a fan of this everyone thinks they know something, but in the end it does not matter. You sir are Putrid behavior personified

There aren't many better players, and certainly none on the Sabres or in the Sabres system. If Darcy had pulled the trigger and traded Vanek and Miller before the deadline, maybe the Sabres would have gone into the tank, had a top 3 pick, and then, they might have had a player in the system as good as, or better than Vanek. They didn't and now they don't. I'm all for trading Vanek if you get good pieces for the rebuild, which at minimum will require a top F prospect, but I think I'd rather resign him if he were interested. I feel the same about Miller. If you get a good offer, go ahead. Otherwise, try to resign him and build around him. Cornerstones. You don't have to have them. Some teams have none. If the Sabres traded Miller and Vanek, and Myers doesn't turn it around. They would have no cornerstone, franchise players, which is not an enviable position to be in. |

It's a shame Armia isn't here cause he's kinda the one I was most curious about seeing. - sambarugh
Ive said this a million times...I really dont think Armia is going to be anything all that special.
I watched every single world junior game of his start to finish because I was curious about him (and grigorenko on russia) and he was just blah. Sure he racked up a ton of points but only when he beat up on absolute garbage teams (latvia...i believe was a big one)
plays super lazy defensively and only turns it on in the offensive zone. takes shifts off..etc. I was totally unimpressed. If theres all this hype about him with other GMs and not just everyone on this site I'd totally trade him.
He'll be diet thomas vanek at best IMO (not just because of his wjc performance, but check his stats over the years as well. Idk...look into it. |

I can agree with this. he could use a number one center then you would really see what he is able to do. |

Well, a guy from my rock climbing gym who gave me my first climbing lesson was the first person to ever die while doing the tough mudder just a few months ago in WV. He drowned, so, if yo do do it, be very careful in the underwater part. |

Vanek is the best thing the sabres got. I agree 100%. Except I have little faith in him re-signing here. It would be great though( means I could keep my jersey.) |

What is a "true #1C" to you?
Vanek benefited from playing with Derek Roy, who outscored Vanek in 4 straight seasons following the departure of Drury & Briere (p/g). Vanek scored both his 40 goal seasons with Derek Roy as his center, why didnt he do it more consistently? Is Derek Roy not a "true #1 center" even though he helped Vanek score 40 goals twice?
Vanek benefited from playing with Pominville, who was arguably one of the Sabres most under rated players until he got captain and everyone realized how much he did for the team.
Kind of hard to make that argument when Vanek gets outscored by players like DEREK ROY and TIM CONNOLLY. |

I'm pretty sure today was mostly free form, fluid stuff, though I wasn't there. I've heard that the Sabres plan to move him back to his natural position of center this year. |
