that's because it's not good. But it's our only option.. unless you'd rather see Morrow or Jagr. - MartysBetter88

Just blow it up! I don't get why teams are hesitant to do it. I am not being a Richard. I am a Jets fan trust me, I get it The best move it blow it up man. Just like why I don't get why the flames refuse to do the same thing. Build around Henrique and Larson stock pile picks, and come back in 4-5 years.
Also, I'd maybe follow the stars model of last year. Get Jagr, get Morrow, get another guy on 1 year deals. See what happens, and trade 'em to contenders when your presumably out of it for first rounders and prospects and load up the farm. - mrhattrick27
If this had happened a month ago I would agree, but this happening now handcuffs them like no tomorrow |

Not bad.. right? Brunner has potential.. right? He had some streaks.. albeit with Datsyuk... right? Surely he could streak with Lokti and Ryder..? - MartysBetter88
Loktionov played well with Kovalchuk, his stock just dropped with Kovalchuk leaving gotta go find chemistry with someone else |

He figured if it could bring a cup in those 2 years, it would be worth it to lose the pick...
... and it almost worked. - aecliptic
So, he was dead set on giving up the #30 pick, instead of 29? |

He would have been fine with it if it brought home a Stanley Cup. |

You don't want to blow things up in a year you don't have your first round draft pick to benefit from being bottom of the league. |

without a first, you cant even offersheet anyone to help replace Kovy
Wheeler, and Stewart could of cashed in and it would be hard for Jets or Blues to match |

I get that, but why when he knew that his best player would be gone for years, would he save the penalty for the year we don't have him? Like any good conspiracy theory, your argument is made up of lack of evidence and has a lot of holes. |

I think that is what most fans want, although no harm in waiting a year. Not missing out on anything this year. We'll see what lou does. |

I thought I read they can use their 1st rounder from 2015 if they wanted to go the offer sheet route...maybe I am wrong |

Please no. I'd rather just enter the rebuild anyway. Without Kovy our offense has no leader. No RFA available would have changed that. Good players, but they wouldn't put us back to where we were and we'd be an average team with no first round pick for 3 years. AKA: On track to become the flames. No need to make a bad situation worse. |

Dont believe that is so, I am sure you need all your draft picks in consecutive years, cant jump or skip years. |

Only if the offersheet is over 6.2 million. If you owe multiple picks in the same round, you have to have them in the number of picks plus 1 years. |

I need to leave for a while. This is depressing. back to real life with real responsibilities. This is a sport with people i don't know or personally care about, and they don't know or personally care about me. go play your games, you high paid hockey players. have fun shooting pucks and doing drills and workouts. enjoy your R8, your H2, your Bentley, and your Jet. enjoy. I have to practice to play with Allie Moss. real life goes on. |

Yeah man, we already got penalized for his contract being cap circumvention. We should be penalized for him deciding not to play anymore. We should lose our team because we suck go rangers. |

I agree, just rebuild is probably the smart choice. You get perspective at that state of your franchise after a day like today.
Maybe try and absorb a bad contract or 2 with a team looking for cap relieft, gain an asset in that process (Philly/Rangers). Try and stock pile some more draft picks this way. Put your cap space cleared up to good use now. |
