Can someone please tell me why Girgensons can play in the AHL but Grigorenko can't. Aren't they the same age?
- jzabawaj

Something about how Grigorenkos rights are still owned by his QMJHL team, and they wont release him so he cant play in the AHL. So its either the Q or the NHL.

I'm assuming because he played for the EJHL and USHL?

The Canadian Hockey League (QMJHL, OHL, WHL) has a deal in place with the NHL that doesnt allow their players under 20 years old from playing in the AHL unless they are released by the junior team. This is so that the CHL doesnt get watered down from all its top talent.

Girgensons never played for any team in the CHL. He played in the USHL and was set to enter NCAA college team. There is no agreement between AHL and USHL, therefore he was allowed to go straight to the AHL.

College players are not allowed to have agents or sign a contract while they are playing NCAA hockey. Thats why typically, players who play their full 4 years will sign upon the end of their season, or in Ruhwedal's case, he left a year early.

Wait, you're telling me everyone of our prospects aren't going to pan out and we're not gonna win the cup in the next two years? Say it isn't so!

Those numbers were not very good. Was it a usage thing? or was it struggling to adapt offensively?

Obviously a young kid and will have time to grow just wondering why specifically he struggled so much offensively last year? Obviously don't watch too many Rochester games.

It was the fact that he was 18, and he suffered a severe concussion that kept him out about 30 games. Took awhile to get back playing at his usual hell-bent-for-leather style.

I think the kid's gonna stick this year.

I'd rather watch him at 100% effort every night, and end up with 12-15 than watch Stafford "JP Dumont" it all season.

Well when you draft an all world player like Grigorenko what do you expect?

Realistically, what kinds of numbers do we expect out of Grigs this year, in an 82-game season?

He really could be a wild card of sorts for us.

I see him as more of an assist guy until the rebuild really takes off so 10-12 Goals 25-30 Assists.

I was trying to be a bit more optimistic than this, but this is fairly realistic.
