3-4 years, $2M-$2.5M per. I wouldn't go any longer or more money with Bailey than that. But I'm not the GM...
- Jethro09

I think in arbitration it can be a one year deal with the option to the team to double it to a 2 year deal.

Unless that changed in the last CBA.

But yea... I think 2.5 5 to 2.8 million will work!!!

I think they'll come to an agreement before the arbitration date and he'll be locked up for 3 or 4 years

We have been saying this for a few years. I really hope he does but if gets off to a real sluggush start him and Bailey well then Islanders need some major decsions
- kasperrko

I think (hope) they've both just been in the Bertuzzi phase of their Islander career.
If either doesnt show a significant upturn this season they could both become serious trade candidates.

I don't think anyone says he stinks...you can't really argue that the skill-set is there...it's just that, as with Okposo, he has yet to deliver consistently, and that probably prevents him from hitting the jackpot in arbitration. Let's face it, that Bailey-Nielsen-KO line was doing a whole lotta nothing until they were sat down and told they would start drawing the tough defensive assignments, and to concentrate on that rather than scoring. Up to that point, Grabner was outscoring the three of them combined with far fewer 5-on-5 minutes. Once the Nielsen line was settled down into a more defensive role, the offense grew out of that and they were the best line on the team from then until the end of the season. With all three of them, the challenge seems to be getting them to a good place mentally. Once there, they're damn good hockey players.

I would argue that when Okposo was playing inconsistently he was causing odd man rushes. Bailey is inconsistent in offensive zone. maybe I am wrong.. but I felt like Ok would only try when he had the puck.. that has finally changed. Bailey I think was scared to death he would give up an odd man rush and end up getting sent down again.

3 years is my bet, 1.8, 2.0, 2.5

total of 6.3mil, cap hit 2.1/per

So at what point does Garth Trade for Pronger this year? We all called that Tim Thomas signing about 6 months before it happened. This is my call this year.

That would be something else, giving the flyers some cap relief. Seemed to help the Bruins last year? Garth Snow, every competing GM's best friend

Since we are going to be above the cap floor what benefit would that bring the franchise?

I think especially earlier on last season Okposo was far more of a liability out there than Bailey was. The "drink every time Okposo falls down" game was devastating to my liver...

Why in the world would we need that?

plus, Pronger would block the trade...

So Travis Green is going to be a coach? I remember when Milbury called him a "gutless puke". I'll love that line forever. One of Milbury's only positive contributions during his tenure as Isles' GM.

I got a chuckle from Milbury when he was blasting McCabe during the 2001 playoffs against the Leafs regarding the can opener.
