I bet Clowe and Ryder wouldn't mind a do-over on July 5th right about now

I'm sure they're absolutely distraught in their mansions.

I doubt Jersey was the highest bidder for anybody.

Ryder lives not far from me, He lives in a Condo maybe 2500 Sq Ft overlooking the Narrows in St. John's. "mansion" is a stretch...

Now I'm sure his shack in Bonavista is much larger

I would guess that most players rent a spot or buy a small place where they play, and that they buy their "main" house where they live in the offseason. That's what I would do anyway!

Yeah, I doubt any of the Devils live in Newark.

It's a scary, scary place.

You'll spend more time in the town where you play than you will in your off-season place.

ya... but Ryder's a Newf.

(and truth be told that one started out as a jab at housing prices in Jersey, but then I lost interest)

@TSNBobMcKenzie: For those asking, VAN/Luongo could technically do this (as I understand it) so long as player is prepared to NOT get $ owed him. #nochance

I like how Naylor asks "what's to prevent Kovulchuk from say, 18 months from now, signing a contract with the KHL?"

(frank)ing idiot, he's going to sign a contract with the KHL by Monday

These idiotic fly off the handle name calling responses are funny. NJ was probably pushing him to retire just as much. Team is in financial clapper.

That could be true.....

But if I'm Marty, looking at that roster for next year, why would I even play?

Hurts his stats for one year of awful hockey.

I think he says to Lou: "Tanks, but no tanks on playing next year"

Then Jersey has that lineup with 1B Cory to play all the games, ouch!

consensus from the pundits seems to be that Jersey loves the idea.

He ws gonna make over $11M in real money the next 5 years... they simply don't have that.

I think he says :"sure I'll back up Schneider and play 15 home games for $5M "

That's a sweet gig I guess, but Marty is going to have to play a lot more than 15 games when Lou gets pissed he traded a first for a backup.
