TOI. Thats your favorite stat. The Leafs hae a weak d but oh, they play a lot, so their good.
- aminnes

You said he doesn't play with Phaneuf...I showed you he does (unless that's not what you were referring to)

Yes, they have a weak D, so probably not a good idea to get rid of arguably the most reliable Dman in all situations at a very reasonable cap hit. $2.5 or less for Gunnar is money well spent.

More than that they can't afford unfortunately

Yay! Lets' retain even more salary!
- aminnes

Yeah, not a fan if its more than 1 season. I assume it would be for the remaining length of the contract if we kept salary on liles..No thanks

Frattin and Scrivens is ok if its just this season

Dude, show me who do you have for pairings without Gunnarson?
- markmark

I want Gunner, but they opted for thetender, now thy have to make choices, and I say, of Fraser, Franson or Gunner, it's gunner. Unless someone take sLiles, which i doubt.

Thank you. Keeping the puck out of our net was not having 7th in the league in save. Crap d. again, thanks Bernier.

4.7mil in goalies isnt the problem.

9.5mil for two third liners is.

I was referring to a time when they can be great, i that context he can't. Your not winning a cup with him or Phaneuf playing top pair, unless it's Dion with someone better than Dion.

It'd kind of be fun to see Gunnarsson let go and replaced with Franson on the top pairing - if for no other reason than to demonstrate how valuable Gunnarsson is. He's one of the very few dmen the Leafs have that's capable of playing a responsible game in his own end.

I hope Franson takes the next step and becomes a 20+ minute guy that can play in all situations but he hasn't shown it yet - and I can't remove that image of the between the legs no look pass he threw out in the Boston series ...in his own zone.

- The Law

Gunnarssons never been beaten?

I can't get the image of him flipping the puck up the middle of the ice against the islanders.

If they retain some salary Liles is tradeable I think.

Could free up $2.5M or so

- Big_Lightnin

Anyone know if retained salary can vary or fluctuate year by year?

On Liles' salary, could we eat $500K the first year, then $750k the following year when the cap increases and so on?

Compare them to themselves. What did Chicago spend on goaltending? They could have had less than 3 million in the net and been fine, came back with al their players. Someone will have to go.

You think Franson is better in his own zone than Gunnarsson? If not, then wtf are you talking about.

And you aren't getting someone better than Dion to play with Dion unless you want 14-15 mill tied up in your top pair.

We'll see.

In regards to Bozak, if he was on the deal he has now for the last 2-3 years, he would be getting the Grabo treatment just as bad if not worse.

Not sure ....the salary ($$) maybe but I think the retained cap stays level throughout. It's a good idea though b/c Liles salary drops in the final year. Eat 2 milly over 3 years and the other team would have him for 2.85/yr ....might do it.

Just watch Fransons positioning in his own zone and you will think otherwise. (Granted it has gotten better)
