Miller for Nabokov, Bailey and a 2nd?
Seriously though what's the story on Bailey? He seems like a Cody Hodgson type player. Great hockey IQ, lacks elite skating, but makes plays. - ImThatGuy
That is a really good comparison. I have always liked Hodgson & im predicting a good year out of him.
if you take Bailey & the second out of your deal, you have a deal!!!

Miller for Nabokov then? That's just silly. Just from watching him and reading up on him, seems like a player Buffalo would target. He seems to have a better defensive game then Hodgson though.
Can a player be traded after they file for arbitration? |

Don't touch Grabo with a 7 feet pole... I hope for you that you let him where he is : Free agent A guy that misses a flight with the team on the road, because the coach told you that you'll sit the next game isn't how you should approach the game. It would be a "cancer" in the room. Not a team player. |

Bailey has all the tools. His biggest obstacle is between his ears. When he's confident and feeling it out there, he looks like he could be a really special player...makes really nice passes, drives through defensemen to the net, plays physical. Other times he seems like he over-thinks everything...passes when he's a foot away from an empty net, shoots when he should pass, stays on the perimeter...and his confidence goes in the toilet. Seemed to finally put it all together last season and into the playoffs, so hopefully it carries over. |

I don't think he was ever a legitimate target, our offense will pretty much be set once Bailey re-signs. |

Sounds like Hodgson then. He seemed to put it all together towards then end of the season when it did not really matter. Scored one of the best individual effort goals I have seen.
Are you nervous at all to what he is going to get in Arb? They always seems to price high and side with the player. |

He's been to arbitration before so this is probably not a big deal. They have to award him > $3.5M for the Isles to be allowed to walk away from him, and there's not a chance in hell he's going to get that kind of money from the arbitrator. |

Not nervous to the point where I think the Isles will walk away from it. And I'd be surprised if Bailey hits the jackpot here. He played well later in the season and put some points up in bunches in April, but over 82 games his overall stats from last season would still translate to under 20 goals and under 40 points. |

Calvin? Really? Perhaps most anticipated D man in system but he's proven very little in the past 5 years other than his ability to get injured.
What about Reinhart? Pulock? |

Wouldn't book that an E5 so quickly...They'll find the players with closest number of points to Bailey who are being grossly overpaid and argue from that angle. And I'm sure there are plenty.
Quick find of forwards with same or LESS points than Josh(19) this season:
Stafford: $4mil
Anisimov: 3.3Mil
Havlat: $5.0Mil
Landeskog: $3.6Mil
Any first year law school student could easily argue the case. An arbitrator worth his weight in hockey pucks should be able to get Josh $3.0Mil easy and be home in time for Matlock...
Either way...he just poked a stick into the hornets nest that is The Wrath of Garth.
Bottom line, Bailey was brought up too soon and given little support plus those heavy chains he wore around his neck. So, if he walks in a year or is traded, there goes another 1st round pick wasted, courtesy of Barf Snow, our HERO! |

I like Bails too. Met him a few times at Syosset. Nice kid.
Plus, Ryan Reynolds is a LOCK to play Josh in the movie version of Josh Bailey: A Young Man on a Long Island. |

Yeah because I'm sure the arbitrator just waltzes into the meeting room with a chart of players with comparable point totals and their current salaries (and literally nothing else in common), places it down on an easel and slaps his pointer onto the chart shouting "THIS, is what Mr. Bailey will be awarded"
Not to mention the production of those players in the most recent season has literally nothing to do with their contracts, with the exception of one that I'll address in a moment.
Havlat: Signed his contract as a (star) UFA, which is literally probably almost the total opposite of Josh Bailey's current RFA status.
Stafford: Signed as an RFA, after coming off a 30g, 52p career season.
Landeskog: Is on a standard ELC and his cap hit is only that number because of bonuses built in. This is completely irrelevant to anything about Bailey's situation.
Anisimov is the only player you listed that even scratches the surface of relevancy to Bailey. Signed a 3 year extension in June with an AAV of $3.283M after coming off of a similar season to Bailey. However, unlike Bailey, Anisimov has managed to put together better seasons (pointwise) in every year that he and Bails have been in the league (save for the 08-09 season where AA played 1 game). He's had more consistent success, whereas Josh has been all over the map.

Staple says in the article that the Islanders didn't slide his first year when they could have because he didn't play the 6 games needed to burn the first year. Why the fack would they do that????? |

Probably so that when they aim to re-sign him after this season, which will be his first real one playing pro, he'll come at a significantly cheaper price than he would have if he had two full NHL seasons under his belt. |

If the second line looks like Bailey- Neilson- Okposo what are your predictions for each of them point wise.
Bailey 20g 40 60 pts
Neilson 15g 35 50pts
Okposo 25 40 65 |
