He showed flashes of being a 60 point player in Hitch's system. Even with Gagner an Yakupov, I can see Perron hitting 70. Not saying it's something to be counted on, just saying it's not out of the question either.

I suppose neither is it out of the question that PRV could hit 40 points.

Certainly in a couple of years they could both be strong contenders for that kind of output.

Depends on how much of a Rask you are willing to take...

I'm confused. Capgeek has you guys having just under 6.5 mil in cap room. How are Stewart, Paajarvi and Pietrangelo all getting signed? I know a few guys can be sent down to the AHL to clear room but that's not a whole lot of room for those three.

The Oilers deal should have targeted getting Chris Stewart as well!

Capgeek lists us as having 6.5mil in cap room PER PLAYER we need to sign (2). 13mil in space total.

MPS is nothing more than a 3LW. He had opportunities and never made anything of them. If Perron stays healthy the Oilers win this by a ways.

True, however, the relatively modest price tag for Perron reflects his injury risk.

If he had never been concussed, his price tag would have been a lot higher (if he was made available at all).

It's an aggressive move by MacT but I think it is a worthwhile risk.

Yes don't get me wrong. I'd have preferred Stewart, but Blues were always going to move Perron and Oshie before ever moving Stewy and AP.

Hope Perron is fully recovered. I'm sure Oilers staff get to evaluate his health prior to the deal.

Perhaps that would be true if the on ice hockey results were the only scope of the trade. St. Louis had other motives IE: cap relief that they wanted to accomplish and did.

Teams "win" trades when they help themselves out moving forward. It appears both teams got what they needed out of this trade.

He's only 22 & has better #'s at this point in his career than Perron did. John Coltrane was some annoying kid in Miles Davis' band that played too many notes when he was in his early 20s.

MPS is only 22. Started to gain confidence and find his groove. I guarantee playing with Backes'll help him develop in to a force.

Uneasy about this trade simply because I was such a fan of MPS's.

We'll revisit in 5 years and see who won it. For now I have no issue with it.

I concur. It's pretty silly to say a player is nothing more than a _______ when they're only 22 years old.

MPS has only been in the NHL for 3 years. Perron has played for 6 years now.

MPS has more time to make good on his opportunities than Perron does. ill be watching Oilers games this year to see how DP does. wish him tons of luck. he has got crazy hands. my issues with him is that he complicates the game when he should be making the simple play. that and his offensive penalties.

great trade for the blues, but i will miss DP. anxious to see what hitch can do with MPS.

@Iggy, he played a full 48 last season. I'm sure he will be dynamite for us especially along side Yak & Gags (pending) . It is a great deal for both parties, still a little iffy on the 2nd round going that way, thinking too much of an over payment. Good hockey trade over all.
