I must admit i screamed at the news, i'm just not sure if in excitment or in horror. I think it's the former as we've now got us a beast. I suspect hemsky is next out no where for him now. A good move by mact. Am i allowed to do a dayniel bryan on here? YES YES YES.

People talk like everyone in our top is barely 5'10''. (frank)ing montreal had guys like gallagher, gionta, desharnais, all smaller than gagner with no real power forward type (maybe Pacioretty) and they had a great season. I know our division's different but still, we needed to catch up to LA/SJS/VAN in skill and ability and not just size.

Perron is pretty much replacing Hemsky. Once he's gone we'll be free of 1.2m in cap space.

I like what MacT is doing. Flush out the old gunk and bring in some fresh faces.

Love the Gordon and Ference signing. Finally someone who wins faceoffs and someone who plays defense the right way. Thank god he's from Edmonton thats probably the biggest reason why he signed

same, plays like a bigger guy. i hope he resigns in edm after this contract expires. now can edm trade hemsky and at least recover a decent player to play the role prv or a 2nd round pick?
- deks1

I think as we get better, and just in general management needs to start having the audacity to EXPECT players will want to re-sign. No more defeatist crap.

I say we go get either Cleary or Jagr. Each would have their own merits for our team.

I like it for both teams.

Solves EDM's 2LW problem but 3LW is now a hole. Don't mind the trade. I'll give it a year before I jump for joy/cry and throw darts at pictures of MacT

Yeah, I agree, works for the Oilers. Not a great deal, but not a bad one either. Meh.

poopty trade by MacTavish; more of the same in the top 6; lightweight NON-grinder.....
- Spikejones

Haha Oiler fans are so ignorant.

Watch a game. Perron competes.

As an added bonus we got rid of our biggest pansy.

I like Perron but the Oilers didn't really address any real need here. Is Perron gonna be better than PRV? Who knows. They are probably very comparable in my opinion. Problem is the Oilers tossed in a 2nd round pick and added way more salary.

Why would they make this deal?

`a smurf` ?

- JLO961

He's listed as 5'11'' on blues.nhl.com, and we know they can be generous. I'm 6'6'' and I'm telling you that a guy who's 5'11'' is not a problem to deal with on the boards... Perron was playing with a big centre to make room for him... how's he gonna be with Nuge and Ebs as his linemates?

Get ready for an entire season of perimeter shots and attempts at pretty tic-tac-toe passes that won't work 75% of the time folks.

What are they gonna do? Put Smid or N. Schultz in front of the net on every shift?

To a certain extent, 3LWs are still out there in spades where 2LWs aren't really.

Wonder if we roll 3 lines fairly evenly at ES. Dunno if putting Perron with Nuge and Ebs works that well, and it would be a shame to shuffle up the promising Hall-Gagner-Yaks idea before we get to see it.

2 LW was a need. He is already better than PRV. And i've always liked PRV a lot. Perron is better today.

New GM getting players he wants and getting rid of players he doesn't want.

Unlike his Tambo, Lowe has been able to come in and make a stamp on this team early.

Rishaug for all of you who don't know shot about Perron.

@TSNRyanRishaug: Like the deal for Oilers. Perron is a gamer, plays hard and has some bite, can score goals. Paajarvi was still a big question mark"

Speaking as a Blues fan........Perron has great skill and he can be a scrappy guy. He isn't "big", but also not small and doesn't play small. But tons of skill and you will like watching him. On the other hand, he is one of those amazingly frustrating guys that plays a lot of "pond hockey", and will make a bad turnover by trying to stick handle too much. He also takes a lot of bad offensive zone penalties. So the good with the bad. But on a talented up-tempo Oiler team, he could score 30 goals.......wouldn't shock me at all. Oh, and he is also a GREAT guy......total rink rat that loves hockey and is good in the community. Definitely not a knucklehead off the ice. I really wish him well in Edmonton.

Perron has set a standard of being a legitimate top 6 forward. Isn't the question whether PRV will become as good as Perron?

They may be comparable in the future, but as of right now Perron is the better player by a significant margin.
