Saw that. I'm ok with the money, it's the length of contract I'm concerned with.

I'll bet you a couple beers there were ten times as many JBO fans last year!!
- The-O-G

Well Oilers fans may not be the best judge of that because a lot of us wanted/thought we stood a chance at getting JBO.

In fact, now that he's traded, it's our best chance in years to try to acquire him this year or next...

Nice upgrade by the Oil. Team still needs to add significant depth, but the pieces are coming together

Either you are over valuing Paajarvi, or I am over valuing Perron, because I see this as a hige win for the Oilers.
- Leafs43

I agree. I also think the Oilers got the best of this deal. They just have to keep their fingers crossed that Perron keeps his head up.
I also agree what a previous Oilers fan said (I'm not going back to see who it was) Magnus Pyjammas is at best Perron's equal. So you traded the guy with potential for the guy he has the potential to be.
I'm sure Oilers fans are sick of losing and this is a step in the right direction.

Perron's 6'0 200 n had as many hits as Okposo, Pavelski, n Rupp. I don't consider him a small guy. Probably plays bigger than MPS

Perron's concussion issues..
Blues shed salary to re-sign Stewart, Pietrangelo.
Blues don't lose much offensive production and gain a good prospect and a 2nd rd pick. .

The Oilers got the better player, but he's A HUGE concussion liability that also costs more.

The Blues got solid young player with size that suits their style of game more and save some cap. The Blues also receive 2nd and now have the room proceed with Pietrangelo.

Like I said, I think it's a good trade, but the benefits that the Blues receive outweigh the Oilers'.

P.S. Backlund for 2 x 1.5m

Not bad eh?

Yeah not bad. Perron's more or less what we hoped Paajarvi would be in terms of role and production. He's a little smaller but he's pretty average height and built well and he's a pest. Good move for our second line, bad for our third line is the way to put it.

Seems like an over payment, dont know if Bos needs an elite goalie with that defense.

At least he is only 26 I guess, but he will definitely continue to be a top 5 goalie for the foreseeable future

Perron had one concussion and he drooled on himself for a year. He also missed a total of 0 games after returning (1 &2/3 seasons). He'll be just fine.

Are Oiler fans really unhappy with this deal?

You guys may have gone too long without a "hockey" trade if you find this trade disappointing.

David Perron is SIX FEET TALL!!!! What the helll is with some of you people. He has amazing hands, a fierce competitive fire within him, and he a total gamer.

I can`t stress enough what an amazing deal this is!

Wow! I`m stoked about this.

I think Pajaarvi could very well turn this deal in the Blues` favor down the road, but we have enough potential and I, for one, was sick of watching and waiting for MPS to get it going.

Just watch Perron...he already has it going.

Fantastic deal! Good job MacT

Chara and Seidenberg are getting up there in age, so those dominant defenses will be coming to an end.

The way I see it.

Clear visor out

Tinted visor in

But you took on more salary and lots next years 2nd. Plus he's older. For you guys, Hope he isn't as much of a perimeter player, as I'm reading from Blues fans.

- moondawg

Perron is not a "net presence" type player. Concussion issues have kinda made him a perimeter player. Plus he is only 5'11 and like 195lbs
