So tired of some of the Oiler fans. We needed a legit Top 6 guy on the left side who can be consistent and put up points. Yes, we wanted a Big Power Forward, but 6'0 200 lbs isn't exactly tiny either. I've always like Perron.
While the concussion issue may come up, if healthy, a good deal for Edmonton.
Does this trade make the Oilers better? Yes.
So what is the problem?
Yes, giving up PRV hurts (and a 2nd I suppose), but we aren't going to get better without giving up anything. |

If Perron stays healthy the Oilers clearly win the trade in my oh so humble opinion. |

People talk like everyone in our top is barely 5'10''. (frank)ing montreal had guys like gallagher, gionta, desharnais, all smaller than gagner with no real power forward type (maybe Pacioretty) and they had a great season. I know our division's different but still, we needed to catch up to LA/SJS/VAN in skill and ability and not just size. - Jack-artist
Great season, manhandled by a good, but depleted, Sens team when it counted. There's a reason they drafted Mccarron and added Parros. |

Can't believe the amount of Oiler fans that don't like this. We've gotten WAY too attached to picks and prospects. |

Pretty good analysis....PRV's ceiling also a factor....time will tell. |

Love this trade, getting closer, and closer to a playoff team IMO.. Now hemsky for a dman or 3rd line grinder. |

Yeah I fixed that...typo...
I haven't trashed any other moves they have made....this one just isn't that great IMO - The-O-G
fair enough. I guess it's just the multitude effect of seeing so many PRV fans come out of the woodworks... |

So PRV and Hemsky for Perron...is that a good deal? - The-O-G
to me, i think this a fair deal. prv was slowly progressing, did i want him to leave. heck no. i wish it would have been hemsky+ for perron, instead get stewart, but it's not going to happen.
hemsky, just simply ready to move on from him. that's all i can say about him.
prv prob will flourish in stl, st louis might get a decent prospect with the 2nd round pick, but got to pay up to get back. |

We have become a culture of prospects and picks. Gonna take some time to get out of that mindset. |

Great move by MacT. (frank) the second round pick, we needed a guy that at least plays big. Now Hemsky can be moved out for a psychopath on the 3rd line and we'll be in great shape. |

Very disappointed.
Adding a 2nd rounder seems a bit much. - TeeVee
Either you are over valuing Paajarvi, or I am over valuing Perron, because I see this as a huge win for the Oilers. |

But lets be serious. By the time the Oilers are ready to compete for a cup MPS will probably be very comparable to Perron.
So maybe the 2LW is full instead of the 3LW....who cares, it's apples to apples here and they oilers added salary and chucked in a pretty damn decent draft pick. I just don't see it. - The-O-G
Nobody knows how MPS will turn out, he may end up in the KHL in a couple of years after failing in the NHL. |

I was talking moreso about fans of other teams. But yeah, our own fans are reacting a little strongly too.
As i say, couldn't be a worse move than dealing Brodziak |

You know that's a great point.....he might break both his legs too and never play again. Never thought of that. |

The way I see it.
Clear visor out
Tinted visor in
But you took on more salary and lots next years 2nd. Plus he's older. For you guys, Hope he isn't as much of a perimeter player, as I'm reading from Blues fans.
