I really don't care!
That should not allow some punk to come in here and put down our team!
To hell with the Oilers, and to hell with the Oilers that won it before, as well. - Sabresfan88
Really? You sound like you are 12 with that comment. If you ignore those type of people, they usually go away |

Relax man. I was joking about first comment on a Sabres blog. Hardly exclusive
Edit: I should note, I do appreciate what the Sabres have done to indirectly help Edmonton. I don't think we would have gone to Gm 7 of the finals in '06 without Mr Peca. |

Kevin, you asked what you needed to work on from earlier.
This blog is extremely vague. Hardly any development camp notes whatsoever even though thats the title. Did you go to it? If you did, cant you write a blog explaining how certain players there looked, what it composed of, etc?
I figured this blog would have tidbits on certain players. Guess not. |

Actual comment on the blog
The Sabres are in their worst stretch of hockey as a franchise. After looking through the year-by-year results for the team, they've never been worse. Buffalo has made the playoffs just four times in the past 11 seasons. They only missed the playoffs six times in the previous 31 years.
That is so sad and inexcusable for so many reasons. This stretch of hockey includes their best regular season as a franchise. Not only does Regeir have to go but Pegs and Black have to get their heads out of their asses fast. They are getting Bills syndrome really bad where they think every choice they make is right and they think they have forever to get better.
This awful stretch of hockey coincides with the best TV ratings and ticket sales they Sabres probably ever had. know I've said this before and it bother people, but people have to stop buying seasons and going to games like its the hottest f-ing thing ever. |

I agree Darcy has got to go. He should just be on some team as a scout only, which I will give him credit for that he does very well.
On the other hand, he sucks as a GM bc he doesn't have a pair of pucks. Falls in love with his picks and can't part with anyone unless ripping someone off. Has no sense of selling high and buying low. He shoots for mediocrity, where he is comfortable. Even his demeanor is never too high or too low. A GM needs to have some fire...
That said this blog is stupid. Back in the day, almost everyone made the playoffs and between the Nordiques and Whalers, it was harder not to make the playoffs.
I have to admit, I was always on the case of prior GM's like Gerry Meehan, but boy do I miss him! Guts bringing in Hawerchuk(Housley was my favorite), guts bringing in Lafontaine(score!), and a little luck w Hasek!
Pays to gamble with late picks too(Alex)
Now that I think of it... Gerry was building a cup winner...
Mucks came in and brought in all those rotting Oilers like Fuhr who sucked here and delayed Hasek from ruling w Lafontaine, Mogilny, Andreychuk, Hawerchuk in front of him!!!
Man, I should blog |

I think Armia has a pretty good shot at cracking the roster to be honest. I mean look at our current RWers - Stafford, Kaleta, maybe Flynn or Tropp now that Tropp is getting healthy? I think he could easily slide in on either the top line (assuming Rolston wants to keep the Foligno/Ennis/Stafford line together) or at the VERY least 3rd line with the likes of Ott/Leino. Do YOU think Tropp is gonna outshine Armia? I sure hope not. |

Its definately possible. Tropp has more experience under his belt. Armia obviously has the higher ceiling and projection tho |

I think you hit the nail on the head with that part. From what I've been reading on some Finnish boards with people who watch him play regularly it looks like Armia has rounded out the defensive side of his game a lot in the past year. I like Tropp don't get me wrong but the offense he brings to the table just won't be there IMO for playing a top 6 RW role (a role we need to be able to fill). |

I think Tropp could have a big role in the bottom 6. Armia just needs to adjust to N. America but I think once he does, he could be a special player. I have high hopes for Armia. Kid has sick stick skills and the size is there too. Curious to see what kind of skater he is but it looks like he has all the tools to be goal scorer at the next level. |

I definitely like Tropp in a bottom 6 role. Great guy, awesome in the room when I was around him working for Buffalo and Roch the year before the lockout.
Armia has got one of the quickest releases I've ever seen - he's gonna be a MONSTER once he hits the big time. As far as skating, he's got some decent speed but nothing overwhelming from what I recall watching him at the WJCs and in camp last year. |
