wheeler is intriguing and filed for arb. wonder whats going on there. would love to see a trade involving wheeler and one of the many dmen from winny.

Yeah, I like that Homer has been building assets. No need to take the big plunge now and possibly mortgage your future. If they can get a solid young puck moving Dman that can grow I'd rather do that then trade a bunch of young up and comers.

Weber's contract was a poison pill before the CBA and is an albatross after. Weber is the best dman in the league but I don't want that contract and give up assets for it.

Holmgren seems dead set on keeping the young nucleus together. Just offer sheet AP or Bogosian and call it a summer.

i would be ok with grossmann, coby, mez getting dealt to clear up space for weber as long as we got something in return and homer went out and got a guy like fistric to cover that 6th spot

Timonen-Weber
Streit-Schenn
Gus-Fistric

Fistric was so bad, Edmonton dumped him like a blind date with a harelip and a speech impediment

Also, they might not have enough contract slots. They have to account for each player they have signed or tendered qualifying offers to.

What kind of offer sheet would get you Bogosian? Just curious.

If Nashville wanted Schenn, Couturier and multiple first rounders last summer for Weber, why would they take less now?

Add in Couturier coming off a somewhat disappointing sophomore season, and it may even take more to land Weber.

I think the trade mongers are fishing in the wrong places.

Once the arbitration process is started, the team and player are locked in, if the team decides to walk away, there's no need for an OS, the player becomes a UFA, free to sign with anyone, except the team that rejected the award

I went on 1 in my life, set up by my now wife oddly enough. Ended in a pissed bed, awkward refusal to have breakfast and a "well, I'll never call you."

A duzzy.

So it's much different than baseball. if the sides can't agree to terms after the arb recommendation, the player is a UFA? If I have that right the player has the advantage. Nix that, if the team doesn't agree. Got it.

however the team and the player can continue negotiating while they wait for the arby date and if they agree to a contract before then there will be no arbitration.... which will probably be the case with bogosian imo.

Well, the player submits his numbers, the team submits their numbers and the arbitrator sets the price. The player is locked in at this point. The team can choose to accept the award for a one or two year deal, or reject the award and lose all claim to the player.

But once the process starts, the player is stuck, unless the team walks away. Also, usually when the process is done, most teams have their rosters pretty much set, so the player ends up scrambling for a new deal

I honestly feel Homer is waiting till next Friday to trade his D-men. I feel he is going to make that big last push for Weber. I see going to Nashville:
