G, Lecav and Couts?
- jstross

Yup. Also named Read and Talbot as guys that are capable playing center if need be.

I figured those three. Interesting not mention of Laughton.

Not enough because we no longer have the rights to Shelley or Knuble. I see where your going with this and I figured Matt Walker would get it done but we nolonger own his rights either.

Maybe Poile won't notice.

A trade for Weber is almost impossible due to the price. probably works out poorly for both teams.

For example:

Laughton(1st rd pick)
Coburn
2015 1st rd pick
B. Schenn

Too much to give up and probably not enough to get him.

Nowhere near close enough.

Its probably:

Coots
Schenn
Morin or Hagg
1st and maybe more picks

Anything less and you're just going to get outbid. Although that aspect sort of depends on where Weber is willing to go...

Are you serious? I'd give that faster than a heartbeat. Replace Laughton with Coots, replace BSchenn with Read. I'd still do it as quickly as possible.

You could work a way to do it without Coots and Schenn.

I've had fans of other teams tell me that would get Pietrangelo easily. If it gets Pietrangelo, it gets Weber. I think that's a solid offer..

Pure speculation by the author. Not really based on anything concrete. It's a fantasy piece.

Lets remember, Lavy makes the line up. Homer gives him the pieces.

Under the terms of the new CBA have done nothing really to help small market teams other then lessen the overall share of the pie to the players. No additional revenue sharing, free agency rules the same, and how revenue is defined hasn't changed from the old CBA. I have read articles that both sides expect the cap to increase around $6 million next summer.

The Preds stood up to the bully, but in reality they received very little relief from the new CBA to help level the financial playing field. I can see a lot of small market teams signing their young an upcoming players like a Roman Josi to help keep salary costs down.

Revenue sharing is increased under the new CBA. And what is defined as HRR has also changed somewhat.

I meant without giving both of them. Obviously you'd have to give 1 or the other.

Coots is already your 3rd line Center so he's not replacing Laughton. if Read replaces Schenn the 3rd line now is Coots and ? and ?

It's pie in the sky since it's not even enough. 3 young starters and a 1st rd pick for a massive long term contract is not without risk. Best way to get Weber was to lose 5 of those last 10 wins and get the Seth Jones pick. However, I would've kept Seth Jones instead.

We have tons of center. I personally think Laughton could play the 3rd line well. And if we made a trade like that obviously we'd sign Gagne and the 3rd line would either be Gagne - Coots - Talbot or Gagne - Laughton - Talbot.

I just think that's insane for Weber, not to mention it makes the cap situation marginally worse.

How we so easily forget the specs of the offer sheet.

Guys, Weber is almost untradable until the cap goes up....

If Nashville wanted Schenn, Couturier and multiple first rounders last summer for Weber, why would they take less now?

Add in Couturier coming off a somewhat disappointing sophomore season, and it may even take more to land Weber.

It's an unworkable deal at this point unless it's a massive overpay. As a GM I do not want to lose multiple young promising athletes(top 8 picks) + 2 firsts. Franchises get destroyed that way. Just too risky.

Also, the Flyers would likely have to include Coburn just to make the money work, if not another deal, maybe Grossmann or Meszaros.

Coburn, Meszaros, Matt Read, 1st rounder in 2015, the rights to Jody Shelley and Mike Knuble, and $1mil to NSH for Shea Weber.

edit: Throw in a 7th rounder in 2016 if Poile still holds out.

- feelingkettle

Yeah, 4 late first round picks spaced out is a lot less than young 'studs' that have put in a few years to gain experience and work out the kinks. I'd aim lower than AP and Weber. If the Jets are so friggin cheap, maybe Enstrom can be traded for ?

i would be ok with grossmann, coby, mez getting dealt to clear up space for weber as long as we got something in return and homer went out and got a guy like fistric to cover that 6th spot

Timonen-Weber
Streit-Schenn
Gus-Fistric
