Isles are without a doubt on the rise and the Devs are starting their decline. Its about time
- Vukota

Especially with no first rounder this year, no first rounder next year, and picked 29th two years ago. The cupboards are bare and they aren't getting restocked, anytime soon.

I didn't stay for the media availability of players and coach Capuano.

Why would you? Being able to talk to the players & the coach when the opportunity arises is such a waste of time.

But how are we ever going to find out what their favorite music is, their preferred time of day, if any of them have any new recipes, pets, or haircare tips and tricks???

while the isles have the better offense, devils have always be strong defensively and schneider is good and could be very good, brodeur+schneider is much better than nabokov and poulin, and the isles D is suspect

clowe replaces clarkson who has better career averages and can be better than clarkson if he gets back on track, and we added ryder who should be good for 25goals maybe more

the isles made the playoffs for the 1st time in a shortened season, and were fading at the end of the season, can they keep it up? thats a very big question

- dmarsden2988

if you're talking about the final 5 games of the season... they were on a five game road trip and went 2-1-2 and played their backup a few times. I wouldn't necessarily call that fading. If that's considered fading then we are in some good shape...

Can't wait to see the Clutterbuck, Cizikas and Martin line give the teams top lines fits....CCM line I should say...

We have three solid lines- one, three and four. Our second line is a disaster- it's basically Grabner with no one and nobody, or maybe McDonald, at this point. Unless Nelson and Strome step up and make this team, that line is going to be worthless....or our third line is going to be playing second line minutes, which is what happened last year.

That said, we have enough good players to piece together solid scoring. What is absolute cr*p is our back end. We have Hamonic (a 3- a slot which is worth every penny of that money, IMO), MacDonald (a 5), Visnovsky (a 3 or 4), Strait (a 5 or 6), and two rookies who'd better be d*mned good, or else Nabokov's nearly 40 year old a$$ is going to leave the ice on a stretcher, after he collapses from exhaustion.

With those players back there, they'd best remember the things they learned last year about TRYING to play defense, before worrying about anything else. If they come out of the gate for the first quarter of the season playing dipsy-doodle pond hockey, they'll be so far behind that they might as well throw in the towel and go for the draft pick. They are going to have to have defensive discipline right out of the gate, or it's going to be ugly.

It is considered fading because they went 0-1-2, against cr*p that should have had the buses running in the parking lot. Philly picked it up toward the end of the year, so I'll buy that one...but losing a shootout to a Buffalo team that couldn't sh*t and wind its watch at the same time was unacceptable. If they had played Montreal in the first round, they'd have made it to round two. All they had to do to make that happen was to beat a Carolina team who seemingly couldn't beat anyone BUT them, and a Buffalo team that had seen its wheels bounce off into the ditch in February.

The next step in the evolution of this young team we have is when they get to the point that this kind of thing doesn't happen, EVER- where when they go to play a pile of garbage (regardless of the venue), they make them dig their own grave, and then bash them over the head with the shovel and push them in....and then hit them over the head again if they try to crawl out...a team that only loses games against a truly superior opponent, and doesn't squander easy points. That's when I'll know they are ready for prime time.

You guy's need a younger goalie to make noise in the playoffs. If Fleury would have played half decent the series would have been over in 4

We Bouchard signed and clutterbuck. No need for boyes.
I think Nelson makes team.

Also lets not forget McDonald and Cizikas love to hit. I think we will have 4 guys in top 20 in NHL hits next year. With clutterbuck and Martin being 1,2

if the season started today, this team would finish 14th in the East
- Mr.Black

Funny. Everyone, including myself, was saying that in January too. Lets let the season start before condemning the team to a bottom five finish.

Clowe and Clarkson are a wash at best. Clowe also has a concussion issue now. I liked the Dev's other pick ups, but if anything the isles and devils are pretty even, likely to finish within a spot or two of each other in the stsndings.

Why would you say that??The roster has improved gone from the roster Aucoin, Resoner and Boys. We got Clutterbuck, and Bouchard and we have three guys potentially more that can make the roster next year such as Strome, Nelson, Donavan and maybe dehan... that's big maybe. Not only that but the team is still developing and took a big step this year which I predict they'll take another step. Tavares is getting better every year. It took a while but Okposo and Baily found their game last year. Don't underestimate Clutterback...this guy will have a huge impact on this team. If you can't se how this team is developing after last year then maybe you should start watching soccer.

Why dont the Devils have a first rounder next draft? Was that the penalty for the Kovy contract?

Until the regular season begins, and new guys on new teams prove me otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, you are what your record says you are, and we're the 8th best team in the East.

The rest of it is conjecture. And MB, I usually agree with your posts, but 14th? Are you poopting me?

fading? We lost what, 1 game in regulation in the last month? 6-1-3 in the last 10 games, devils went 4-5-1. Get your facts straight, you're completely ass backwards.

There's no doubt we could use an update on the top line and goalie.

It doesn't look like we are making a trade and there are no FA that would help.

So in net Poulin or Nilsson will have to step up.

And on the top line... sometime this year, Strome will be on JT's wing.

Maybe he stays up for the first 9 games to see how he does. If it's not looking good, then he goes and plays in the "A".

Per IPB, looks like Isles might try Strome on the wing. His reaction? Wherever he's most "useful" is fine with him.....annnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddd.... this is why Niño isn't here anymore......
