Somebody still needs to tell me how Shanahan was passed up last year, good grief.
- Ryan_Wilson

Last year was a pretty strong class, and it was debatable that Shanahan was the last guy out of the 5 big names in consideration. Figured it would only be a year wait for him.

It's not debatable, Sundin did not deserve to bump Shanahan.

I don't get why there is a maximum number of players. Hall of fame voting in every sport is mind boggling. If someone is worthy enough to be in, then induct them. They aren't getting better a few years later.

The real shame is when a guy gets passed over multiple times and inducted after he is dead. Look at Pat Burns. He is probably going to get inducted at some point, why not give it to him while he was still alive to see it?
That honor was barely bestowed on Roger Neilson a year before he died even though he already had a more than worthy resume.

Letang should have sit down and watch hours of how Duncan Keith plays and learn from him. Similar skill set and physical tool box, but Keith seems to be 1000X smarter than Letang.

I really hope zlobin, blueger, martucini (sp) and sundqvist (sp) all have great camps and succedd in wbs bc they r our only hope for wingers in 2-3 yrs. They should no way be called up to play on 3rd or 4th lines for pens Iif they are top 6 in wbs. They should only be brought up when ready..

also im glad shero is working on bottom 6 lately.. really looking strong and physical...

Smh....

Pens r not looking like a physical team and the east will beat them up like boston did to them...

Whens nisk fleury and whoever getting traded. .. and wtf no rfa accepted qualifying offer!!! If I was jeffrey or burtuzzo I would say (frank) off and go play elsewhere. ..

You don't really think that physicality is why we were swept by the Bruins, do you?

Just out of curiosity...honest question:

Do your girls/wives think you're crazy sometimes or that you spend too much time caring about hockey?

My wife loves hockey... I even turned her into a fan of CFL and NFL football.

Sundin has the hometown crowd behind him... You know they were just itching to get him in there. Can't remember who it was, but another Leaf really isn't up to hall of fame standards and he's in there... I don't mean to say Sundin isn't worth it either, he did wonders for Team Sweden as well as the centre of the universe.

I like Sundin, don't have a problem with him getting in, just didnt like that it came at the expense of Shanahan.

Boston didn't really beat them up... I think the pens had more hits than the bruins did. Pens are only one 3rd line player away from you saying they are not physical, to they are one of the most physical teams.

You do realize that opening night is like 3 months away and the trade deadline is 8 months away, right?

A Stanley Cup has never been won in July.

And Jeffrey and Bortuzzo aren't arbitration eligible. If they say (frank) off, they'll be playing in Switzerland or some sh!t.

Great article.

Best move Shero made was re-signing Scuderi. I if Bylsma pairs him with Letang then Letang will become much better.

Man it has been an on going thing. I am pretty sure that the day after the trade deadline people were posting NHL 13 type trades.

"We should trade 3 spare parts to whichever team for young stud NHL'er that they would never part with."

It's been bordering on Leaf fan bad lately.

right now it's apparent that our defense and goalies are set with the probable likelihood that one or two of our dmen are traded. (niskanen and engelland). it also appears our top 6 is set.

so that obviously leaves the bottom 6. right now, i'd say 2 guys have spots nailed down... adams and sutter. guys in the mix will include Harry Z, Jeffery, Glass, Jokinen, Vitale....

Vitale and Harry Z would do well on one line IMO. their speed would be a tough matchup for most teams. I'm not sold on Jokinen in a 3rd line role, not sure if he provides what we need. glass... well meh. Jeffery... meh.

I want two gritty wingers on the 3rd line. because our fourth line is speed, our 3rd should be size. im talking guys that will go to the front of the net and park themselves in front.

maybe dustin penner? not sure how effective he is, and I've heard he's a bit of a baby considering his size, but for the right price, i'd take him.

still want Morrow. seems less and less likely, but you never know.

dan cleary? most folks seem adamant that Cleary is no longer on the penguins radar.

IMO. you trade niskanen and jokinen... look to move glass and engellend. let harry z, bortuzzo, and jeffry sign their RFA sheets... that's about what is owed to our three RFAs... I think, I think they each get around 650k and glass and engellend combine for about 1.7mil so a little off... jokinen is 2.1, niskanen is 2.2.... that's 4.3. try to sign both Cleary and Morrow to deals for 2-2.2 mil per.

Henderson, the good thing about bringing Morrow back is to put him beside Jokes on the 3rd line. They have awesome chemistry together. Didn't you notice it? Plus I don't know why so much hateforthe finn guy. He's far from a weak guy. He can play anywhere in the lineup. That said, I'll be glad to see Nisky/Glass go to get Morrow's contract done. Engelland is not worth dealing. His contract is so low. Bring Sill/Zolnierczyk to battle for 4th line duties.

If I were convinced that Sid and Geno are going to stay healthy the entire year, I'd have no problem moving Jussi. Problem is... Our star centers seem to miss a lot of games and we don't have Staal to pick up that slack anymore. I think Jussi was VERY effective when Sid went down....certainly much more than Sutter.

Jussi has proven to be very versatile. He can play on virtually any line....center or wing. Plus he's a great FO guy. He's a keeper IMO. I keep Eng simply because he's so affordable. He provides toughness when needed and he's not a bad 6/7 D.

We're stuck with Glass.....that is a fact. Nisk is the guy that gets moved.....whether you can sign the RFA's and scrape the bottom of the barrel for another forward remains a question. They will need to have some money come deadline day to get another Morrow type.

Fact is... Our bottom 6 will be fluid and not a great group.
