Are we going to let someone offer sheet Hodgson and take the picks?
- buffalokb

I feel like there is a silent agreement among the GM's to not do that lol. Stamkos or Pietranegelo would have been offered a lot by me immediately. But maybe thats why I am only a gm in nhl 13

He was given a lot of credit for Giroux's emergence

But at his age in pro sports, decline can be so rapid. That 2 years ago can be an eternity.

Christ I promised myself I wouldn't get caught up in the Jagr drama.

Never had Pasquale's but seen it many of times. I know the owners of La Nova so kinda biased opinion but they have a great slice of pizza. I found a very underated one across from Depew HS in Grassos pizzeria. great pizza and wings. Elmos in amherst may have most underrated wings in buffalo. cajun-medium, honey bbq-hot. so good.

southtowns i usually stick with duffs though. its always a great choice

- Beezer33

Well Duff's is always a must although I know some will argue that. But when you're this far from a decent wing, even something not considered the best in Buffalo is still greatly superior to anything in Colorado. (Exception is Big Hoss in Denver, owned by a Depew HS grad)

Back to food, wouldn't it be nice of they had more local restaurants and pizzerias at the FNC????

Then we would also get to show off our local flavor to visiting fans as well.

Jagr is a sure-fire hall-of-famer. I'm sure there is at least something a young locker room can learn from him, even at this stage of his career. He was always a hard worker. His defensive game was never anything to write home about, nor did he care about that, but when it came to doing what he did best (i.e. scoring) he was definitely a horse. The problem with Jagr that most Buffalo fans seem to have (besides the fact that he's old) is that he isn't the "two-way" player that everyone seems to want just about every player to be. The reality is, you only need a few of those types of players. Let your scorers score, and your defenders defend. Don't try to make every player do everything. I think that is what got the Sabres in a lot of trouble last year. Tyler Ennis struggled because the Sabres wanted him to be more "responsible" in his own end. The same could be said for Hodgson. I'd rather they do with them what they did with Briere and essentially tell him not to worry about it and go focus only on putting pucks in the net instead. That's what matchups are for. Jaromir Jagr could most likely show guys like Hodgson, Ennis, and perhaps even Vanek, if he's still here at the beginning of the season, a thing or two that would improve their careers going forward.

The key to Jaromir Jagr(notes) might be the key – the key that unlocks the door to the Philadelphia Flyers’ practice facility in Voorhees, N.J. The team has given it to him at his request, so he can go there late at night sometimes – like, 11 o’clock late – to work out and skate on his own.

If they want, his teammates can come, too. Flyers winger Jody Shelley(notes) said they have a standing invitation.

“He calls it the ‘Jagr Hockey School,’ ” said Shelley, who has attended some night classes and makes them sound like a graduate course taught by a famous professor. “It’s just extra work, just extra stuff. He just has input on anyone’s game if they’re open for any ideas. He’s just got a lot of things to tell me and talk about. It would have been nice to meet him 20 years ago.”

http://blogs.thescore.com...ir-jagr-is-over-training/
Yesterday Elliotte Friedman of CBC wrote about Jagr and his aforementioned admirable work ethic, which shared some of the details about his regimen, which includes extra on-ice workouts with a weight vest…after actual games have finished. He uses a heavy puck, and occasionally weights his skates to make his muscles work harder. His place in Pittsburgh was rumoured to good for two things: sleeping and working out. Petr Prucha, who stayed with him for awhile, said “While the NHL is sleeping, he is working.”
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/...edication-in-the-gym.html
When Jagr moved from Philadelphia to Dallas, the Stars were ready.

"He had a key," said one source who preferred not to be identified. "When you sign a guy like him, you let him do whatever he wants...For being a legend, he was great to work with."

Like the Flyers, who practise at a public rink in Voorhees, N.J., the Stars practise at a public rink in the Dallas suburb of Frisco. Jagr would be given a schedule indicating when the ice would be free, usually around 11 pm. There would be a zamboni flood.

Then it was all his.

After the lockout, members of the Stars' equipment staff stayed late for about a week to make sure his gear was set up and he was comfortable.

He'd skate anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour with the weight vest. Sometimes, there were additional weights on his skates. Once in awhile, he'd run, but it was mostly on-ice stickhandling and shooting.

The goal of all this is to condition the body for prime physical exertion at night. Here's a text from one veteran NHLer 12 minutes before Boston won.

"You happen to notice Jagr is flying in both overtimes. He always said he wished he could play two games. He has his legs now. Just takes him a game to get them. He will have a factor in this if Boston wins."

After the winner, he texted: "Jagr -- called it." (See, it's not just media that celebrates accurate predictions.)

Last Saturday, one hour after his team's victory in Game 1, Jagr was working out with a bungee cord outside the visitor's dressing room.

Dellapina, finished his work for the night, said, "Jags, go home."

"No," he answered. "I have to do this."

I agree, but the way to get two-way players is to identify them via sign, trade, or draft; not to try to convert guys that have made their way into the NHL by scoring into them.

You guys ever see the picture of him at TD during the play offs just rifling pucks late into the night after a game. Someone gave him the keys to lock up and he skated by himself all night. crazy work ethic. would be happy to get anyone like that.

ROR was done by feaster who is the gm laughing stock of the league. imagine is colorado didnt match their offer though..whoa...and weber is a proven commodity. maybe some guys dont want the youngsters? I just find it hard to believe that it is not smart to offer 3 firsts for a player. if sabres offered 3 firsts for stamkos we could be a whole new team and not rebuilding. just an idea
