well the reason i ask is because someone in the rangers thread brought a trade proposal of paajarvi + petry for MDZ and i thought it was kinda ridiculous cuz i always thought petry was your #1 guy and one of the must underrated guy in the league and good enough for MDZ straight up. thought hes a better nhl player at the moment than MDZ but MDZ has more potential and a higher ceiling. but i can't remember if that's petry or smid or both?
- rangerdanger94

The thing about Petry is ,I suppose, he is somewhat under appreciated for all the things he isn't. He's not PP specialist, nor a pure shutdown guy, not a rushing D or a shotblocking machine. He isn't going to punish anyone physically or dangle the puck out of the corner for a quick breakout pass....but that don't mean he's poopty at those things at all. He's just pretty good at a bit of everything. Keep in mind, he hast hit his ceiling yet. He has less then 160 games experience in the NhL and is still relatively young. He's just one of those guys...I think he's gonna pretty damn good when all is said and done, albeit somewhat unsung.

yea what a clown

I play hockey with a guy who is a pens fan, pretty cocky too, thinks Fleury is one of the top tenders in the league, but the guy is a goalie himself so he is a bit goofy. Haven't seen him since the pens got swept though. Wonder if he still thinks Fleury is good?

sounds a lot like girardi. nothing wrong with that at all.

tenders are always mad weird and goofy...like ALWAYS. there's always something wrong in the head with them haha but i guess there has to be when the dude loves going in front of 90 MPH rubber pucks.

Gilbert>N Schultz.
Deal N Schultz for a 2nd.
Play Belov-Gilbert as the bottom pairing

- TheNugeIsHuge

If you mean:
# of turn-overs(Gilbert) > # of turn-overs(Shultz)
Then I would agree with but other then that no thanks. I wouldn't even take him at league minimum. We need to make our d better and tougher to play against and Gilbert doesn't help in any way.

They really are always the weirdest guys, plus they can be cause there are not enough of em out there and it (frank)ing sucks playing without a goalie. I used to agree with the crazy theory, but not with today's equipment.

Do you guys think PRV will ever become that physical player who we need on the second line? He has the size and skill to do it for sure but he hasn't shown he can be physical. If he can become that player then we can stop talking about picking up Penner, which is a joke all on its own.

No simply because we don't fill the hole left by losing a forward for 2 dmen. If we can switch Dan for Joe and he can get us to the playoffs the way he seems to get the Yanks in every year, then you have yourself a deal.

i think a healthy marc stall for ebs is a pretty fair trade, and good value.

but it just creates another hole. and we have more possible bluechip defensive prospects coming that could MAYBE ever get to stalls level, while literally none up front that will ever get to ebs'.

ill admit, the personal bias and love for ebs' skillset and character certainly is apart of it it too though..

Tempting, but you would have to add some scoring up front, and we will through in a D like Smid.

I'd love Gilbert n Penner to come back. Why not recycle players if they're good players n available for cheap
- TheNugeIsHuge

I think it would be a very bad move to bring Penner back. He plays a lazy , unmotivated game for most of the regular season and then finds a way to turn it up slightly come playoff time. He is not the kind of player the Oil need to have around to teach the young guys how to be professional and work hard on every shift. If the Oilers bring him back again it would remind me of a person who is attracted to the wrong kind of partner but keeps making the same mistake over and over again. IMO of course.

1 less point this year. better physical game. playoff experience. adds agitator dimension to oilers
- TheNugeIsHuge

Ebs without a (frank)ed up hand>>>than Marchand. Not even a conversation. I would kill Mactavish if he did that. Thankfully, he's not retarded. So he won't.

upgrades what EDM has
- TheNugeIsHuge

Very arguable. Especially Gilbert.Neither makes Edmonton harder to play against. Why the fascination with ex-Oilers?

I don't think recycling and upgrades for the sake of it is the answer. I doubt mact does either

Agree. I would drive getaway and help dispose of the body. I know a few good spots.
