Anyway I haven't figured out why a trade hasn't gone down yet between EDM and NYR. We have too many Dmen and need forwards and you need the opposite. Makes for good trading partners. Pretty much the only Dmen we wouldn't deal is Mac and Girardi. A trade between teams just makes too much sense.

what do we give in order to get??? I would think he is exactly what we need- if he is not a headcase in the locker room- further marchand delivers on the ice- actually likely exceeds expectations- something segin has yet to fill billing...

Works for us. We need RHD. we have 4 good LHD in Staal, MDZ, Mac, and Moore. The fact EDM needs LHD makes a trade make even more sense. I remember rumors last year about MDZ to EDM I forget for who exactly.

Keep in mind Marchand produces offensively a lot more then those guys. Lead the B's in scoring.

Marchand has much more potential offensively than both Cooke and Clutterbuck combined. He'll piss off your best player then score right in front of him. Those two are not in the same conversation skill wise as Marchand.

Edmonton has an IHOP now so I can see Penner's motivation to be sky high. Heck, its as easy as paying half his contract in IHOP gift cards. It'd keep Eakins busy and Penner would be happy!

Staal for Hemsky (oil retains half salary), PRV and a 2nd?

Hemsky helps fill the gap this year, and you get first crack at extending him if he works out, you could pretty easily sign PRV for $2mil for a few years and a 2nd rounder (probably #38-48) for 2 years of Marc Staal who then goes UFA. The cap hit is almost even (Hemsky is 2.5, PRV signs for 2(or less) ~ Staal's 4 mil).

NYR give up the better player, but get 2 NHL forwards and a pick.
