Alright just wanted to make sure i was clear, I just dont see where your going to get that this year with the salary cap so low and him being UFA after the season but you never know, your GM completely fleeced the Wild so anything is possible.

I don't know a ton abou tBIggs but I know he isn't a top level prospect.. Kulemin is a salary dump and a 20 something 1st round pick...

I am not taking anything down despite the personal attacks and mudslinging I understand your point about anonymity. My reasons for anonymity and the push to make voting mandatory come from totally differing places. I stay anonymous to allow me to post more rumors by assuring those I speak with a sense of comfort in sharing information.

The PHWA members who want their votes to be public are looking for more self recognition in my opinion...to get more attention/ twitter followers...etc... What they don't seem to get is the consequences.

I don't want the award for MVP handed out to a guy and everyone else saying that "if only Joe B Writer in Nashville had voted for the other guy...." That is not the story and not the way to give these hallowed trophies out.

say you are a young write in Washington and you legitimately voted for Crosby for MVP over Ovechkin. Can't you envision a scenario where that writer may feel somewhat swayed to vote for AO if his vote is public? These teams are run by human beings and they control the information.

I don't see the upside.

- Eklund

Come on. Everyone knows if you are contrary you instantly become more popular. It would be wise for a Washington Writer to vote Crosby. That sort of attention gathers much more interest for the paper or website than going with the status quo.

If it "comes down to one writer", it really didn't come down to one writer.

They will be called out either way. They either voted for Ovie as a homer pick, or should have voted for ovie because the writer covers the team. Anonymity just allows the writers to hide behind their stupid picks. The guy you quoted hit the nail on the head.

I'm sure Buffalo would love that trade, no idea why the Blues would even consider that

As far as trade rumors are concerned, anonymity is essential, because the leaks can be traced, and quickly plugged. Besides, if you're going to be outed, why risk your job to leak this kind of info.

I agree as far as the writers being allowed to keep their votes secret. This does nothing but allow them to do silly things like vote Ovetchkin onto 2 all star teams in two different positions in the same season without accountability. Hence why I refer to any award they vote on as a "popularity contest." I really don't know why the people who would really know, such as the head coaches, don't vote on these awards, simply barring them from voting for their own players.

You don't think people don't know who Ek is? You don't think organizations can track ek just as easy as anyone else?

Leafs should be looking at Brayden Colburne. I wonder what his cap hit is?
- PrinceLH

I agree with this! Coburn would be great with phaneuf and is more of a shut down defencemen. I dont know who we would have to trade to attain him. His cap hit i believe is 4.5 which isnt great but not horrible for a top pairing guy.
Philly needs to dump some salary, maybe he could be had for a reasonable price in a trade.

Philly can't just dump Coburn without getting an upgrade on defense...I hope Homer has enough sense to package him along with B.Schenn or Coots for a young stud dman like Edler or Yandle...

Bozak got a whopping 28 points on the first line Kessel who was 15th in league scoring, Filppula has never played on a first line and Weiss never played with good teammates. Bozak is a 3rd line center at best.
- SpoiledByOil

Filppula has spent a lot of time over the last few years playing with a guy named Henrik Zetterberg. He averaged 18 minutes a game last year while playing almost 3 minutes a game on the PP.

Not saying Bozak is better/worse but simply stating that the contract he got isn't terrible.

First off, Kessel was 8th in league scoring and 13th in goals scored. Second, Bozak had 28pts which is .61PPG. Filppula had 17pts in 41 games which is .41PPG and Weiss had 4pt in 17 games which is .24PPG. Bozak is 2yrs younger then Filppula and 4yrs younger then Weiss.

Now, I am not defending Bozak as a 1C...he is definitely no 1C....
But for you to defend the contracts of Filppula and Weiss while criticizing Bozak's contract is just stupid and makes you look like you have no clue.

By the way, Bozak is also a very important face-off guy and an outstanding PPK player. Your whole post is just plain wrong.

Why on earth would the blues make this deal? Vanek is going to play up being UFA next year, we are talking about a guy who is coming off a $50mill contract, he is going to be looking for a raise.

Because Vanek is the best player in the deal by far and this is just something I saw I didn't make it up but I think It's reasonable.

We can still sign up to 10% over cap during off season. That gives habs about 10MM, once AP is sign, they will trade plekanec and problem will be solve.

I guess ya, Max Gardiner isnt exactly a cant miss prospect, but Oshie a 1st and Jake Allen for one year of Vanek and the disappearing act that is Stafford seems like an over payment. But i would have never believed that Pommiville trade either so I guess anything is possible.

Sure. It would be very smart of the Habs to give up two first round picks. Not to mention Subban will be in the exact same position next year.
