I'm sure this post will be taken down and I'll get a ban, but anyway, here goes:

The entire tenet of this post is so self-serving so as to be a joke. A blogger who posts trade rumors from anonymous sources whose credibility is, at best, shaky, is defending both the right of the PHWA and the HOF voters to remain anonymous. See, when you remain anonymous, and quote anonymous sources, you avoid accountability, be it for a stream of rumors that don't out-perform a dartboard or when you make errors in voting. Accountability is bad if you have questionable credibility or if you don't take your job as a voter seriously. Most people don't and can't hide behind anonymity when they're either terrible at their job or they are pulling one over on their consumers. Which is why posts like this get taken down and banned rather than addressed.

Hey Ek hows is your application to PWHA?
- toddkac

contrary to the haters you might be shocked to know have never been rejected for membership of the PHWA. I have an open invite. In the past I have spoken before the PHWA, contributed advice on blogger credentialing when asked, and have maintained a great relationship with the group. I consider Kevin Allen, the president of PHWA,and Mark Spector as two of my good friends as well as many others...

Why am I not in the PHWA?

Because of my choices. I have said to those writers who I greatly respect that I personally feel as long as I am using the term "anonymous" blogger in my work I would never feel right in the PHWA and would not apply.

So for now I am not officially a member the organization, but still work with them and talk with them on a regular basis. That may change at some point...

As far as trade rumors are concerned, anonymity is essential, because the leaks can be traced, and quickly plugged. Besides, if you're going to be outed, why risk your job to leak this kind of info.

I agree as far as the writers being allowed to keep their votes secret. This does nothing but allow them to do silly things like vote Ovetchkin onto 2 all star teams in two different positions in the same season without accountability. Hence why I refer to any award they vote on as a "popularity contest." I really don't know why the people who would really know, such as the head coaches, don't vote on these awards, simply barring them from voting for their own players.

Who on the oil does what Vanek does?
- devereau

we don't need another skilled forward, we need someone to crash and bang and make room for and protect the kids, sorry but that's not Vanek. Not a jab at the player, just looking at team needs.

I don't know a ton abou tBIggs but I know he isn't a top level prospect.. Kulemin is a salary dump and a 20 something 1st round pick...

pass.

- JVince11

Kulemin isn't a straight salary dump, he's a useful 3rd line winger. You aren't going to get a blue chip prospect for a big money guy on a one year deal. Teams are far better off keeping those players and spending in free agency. Biggs has a shot to be a top 6 power forward but, he is very raw still.

Awe c'mon you guys really wanted him before, remember the offer sheet. What would you realistically offer for Vanek though.
- devereau

Nothing. They don't need Vanek anymore.

I take it back, I'd offer Smyth and expect to be hung up on.

LOL are you really going to start taking jabs at the Oilers with the status of your own team? All simply because I said Vanek isn't the type of player that Edmonton needs? cool

Would love to have him for Tavares' wing, but not for what Regier is likely to get for him. Can't afford to give more than a conditional pick (1 if he signs, 2 or 3 if not) and a middling prospect for a player who would likely walk at the end of the year. Someone will part with more than that, guaranteed...and I don't want Miller, because I KNOW he won't sign. Just not a fit, nice as it would be- I'd rather throw money at him after the season.

The sabres couldn't afford to lose Vanek that year and I'm sure the first rounders wouldn't have been that high if they had Vanek.

I am not taking anything down despite the personal attacks and mudslinging I understand your point about anonymity. My reasons for anonymity and the push to make voting mandatory come from totally differing places. I stay anonymous to allow me to post more rumors by assuring those I speak with a sense of comfort in sharing information.

The PHWA members who want their votes to be public are looking for more self recognition in my opinion...to get more attention/ twitter followers...etc... What they don't seem to get is the consequences.

I don't want the award for MVP handed out to a guy and everyone else saying that "if only Joe B Writer in Nashville had voted for the other guy...." That is not the story and not the way to give these hallowed trophies out.

say you are a young write in Washington and you legitimately voted for Crosby for MVP over Ovechkin. Can't you envision a scenario where that writer may feel somewhat swayed to vote for AO if his vote is public? These teams are run by human beings and they control the information.

I don't see the upside.

I really doubt that vanek would have saved us from first overall in 2010, which would make Taylor Hall yours.

I don't think I was responding to you and I was asking a question. If I wanted to take a jab at the Oilers I would post Edmonton's Playoff performance since 2001.

RUMOR Quick Hits.

The Buffalo Sabres are getting closer on deals for Vanek and Miller. I am working out the details with a few teams involved this afternoon.

Jagr is back talking to Montreal, but Carolina still is the team to beat...Philly isn't an impossibility if a trade (Cobourn) can be made I was told. Giroux is a HUGE supporter of bringing in Jags.

There will be BIG Northeast signing later today.

More to come.

- Eklund

By "quick" are you referencing the 30 seconds it took you to come up with this nonsense?

You should probably take the advice spelled out in this blogs title.

I think it would take a huge overpayment for the leafs to get him and we don't need phaneuf. We need scoring wingers IMO.
- devereau

So you want to trade a scoring winger for a scoring winger because he doesnt want to be apart of the fall down Sabers? So basically you asking for another team to give up a gem for a guy who is going to walk after next year and cash in with probably a $7.5 - $8mill a year contract?

You will be lucky to see a bottom 6 guy and a first rounder ...

So are you saying you never make up rumors on your own and that everything you post here on this site has been relayed to you by an NHL source?
