Is there any reason as to why Schenn got the scoring line job ahead of Coots?

Who is going to slot into the 2nd center role this upcoming season?

Thats not a good trade for Calgary not so much because of the prospects but because that 1st will be top 5 probably top 3 next year.

Do you think a 20yr Jonathan Toews would be the Flyers 3rd line Center?

And the extra year doesnt make a big difference Schenn has way more offensive upside.

- DinoRondelly

Yes Schenn has more offensive upside, but Coots has a good offensive upside as well as a great defensive one. I never said he would be Johnny Toews, I said he has the natural leadership of Johnny Toews, and I think he could be a guy who's only 1 or 2 tiers below Johnny Toews. Think Mike Richards. And Lecavalier is going to be 2nd line center, with Schenn playing his wing. In the future, when Coots does prove himself to be far out of place on the 3rd line, it's most likely that he'll move up, and Lecavalier will move to wing on Giroux's line. Schenn will permanently be a winger from this point on, I would suppose.

Pretty sure Philly was using Coutierier as a two way, third line center spot. Never really watched him play but I heard he did quite well which is why all of us in Edmonton were losing it over the possibility of him being part of trade.

What could Coots and Coburn in a package get from you guys? I know you wanted both of them really badly.

Good point,

The Mike Richards comparison i can live with. And your right I dont see enough of him to really know, just have my fingers crossed Calgary doesnt trade a first for him.

Oiler fans were losing it!
The first bit we heard rumbled about was Coburn for the 1st round pick and Marincin. Smid's name came up because rumour has it MacT has no love for him.
The Coots part was really a lot of wishful thinking. Hemsky's name came up of course when Coots name came up.
What we were all betting on was Philly being desperate to get rid of some salary and that the Oilers could use that to their advantage. A lot of people figured Edmonton could eat half of Hemsky's salary this coming season no problem.

WHY DON'T YOU GET YOUR MANAGEMENT TO CAVE AND COME TO THE FLYERS WITH BOGO AND TROUBA wE HAVE CENTERS AND SCORERS. WE NEED THE BIG DEFENSMAN. I DO NOT WANT BUFF, BUT IM AFRAID OUR IDOUT MANG. DOES. SIGN BOGO AND DO S. COOTS OR B. SCHENN STRAIGHT UP. IT SOUNDS FAIR.

P.S. I JUST SCROLLED DOWN AND SAW THE CONVERSATION WAS ABOUT THIS VERY THING. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP COOTS. I THINK LAVY SCREWED HIM. HE SCORED 96 POINTS 2 YEARS IN A ROW AND WE HAVE HIM AT 3RD LINE CENTER. WE HAVE TO SHED SALARY, SO HOW ABOUT S. LAUGHTON AND B. COBURN FOR BOGO STRIAGHT UP. STILL IS FAIR. BOGO IS NOT STELLAR YET. HE IS STILL YOUNG.

If you're starving in the desert, even a saltine becomes a gourmet meal!
The Jets have done nothing to prove to people that they are moving forward and getting better. How long are the good people of Winnipeg going to put up with not making the playoffs? How long are they going to watch their players be overpaid to stay and not attracting any free agents?... you think people outside of Edmonton think badly of it... the opinion of Winnipeg is even worse! How many more bad draft picks till people start getting fed up?
Wake up Jets fans! Your team is badly run. Get used to it for now. It sucks, I'm an Oilers fan, I know. Thing is, the Oilers are on the upswing. The Jets are not.

K bud, ya wanna blow smoke? Go have a dart.

Chevy and his bosses are still working to clean up the mess they inherited from Atlanta, as in the geniuses who decided to pay guys like Antropov 4+ million each and dress any 18 year old who could lace up a pair of skates. He's got plenty more to worry about than a Russian kid who doesn't want to listen to his coach. TNSE still has some RFAs to look after who are miles ahead of Burmistrov on the depth chart. Maybe if you'd learn something about a team or two not named the Oilers you'd have an idea of what's going on eh? By the way, should I bother pointing out how ironic it is that an Oilers fan is calling another franchise "badly run"? C'man guy.

Come back after free agent day next summer and pass judgement on the Jets, since they'll actually have been The Winnipeg Jets for a season. As of now, management has addressed some glaring holes by trading without hurting the prospect pool and have done plenty to stock the cupboard. So, yes, they have made moves to prove that they're moving forward.

That said, I'd rather have Burmistrov on the roster than in the mother land but I'd bet my life savings that the KHL is paying him twice as much as he's worth here and most importantly, his bolting likely will not sink the ship.

Your GM should be fired...
Im sure you could've traded him for a decent return,
Now you'll be lucky to get a mid-round pick for his rights

As a lifelong leaf fan, with the Jets my second favourite NHL team.So glad your back boys! I would go after Grabo. Great skater, good on the forecheck. Find a way to put him with the right people, I cant see how you could go wrong. Not much else left in this UFA class, You guys are going into a tough situation next year. Good luck!

It's not as of Burmistrov lite up the league last season, he shouldn't be that difficult to replace. Grabovski is a good choice, but I'm not sure how he'd fit into the Jets long term plans. Maybe Chevy fills the void from within, Scheifele or Cormier could be options.

I heard the Jets were looking as getting Bolland and Frolik from Chicago, it makes sense why they'd be interested in Bolland now. However, Frolik can play centre too. He's much better on the wing but he can play down the middle in a pinch.

Come up with a better reply next time! I'm as optimistic as they come, I'm an Oilers fan through thick and thin so don't sit there and try to be all high and mighty and tell me what I'm like! Guys like you sit there and try to act like a saint when you see something you don't agree with. Try to come off as a hero to everyone else. News flash, hockey is about competition and rivals beaking each other whenever they get the chance! I expect the same! Stick that in your wannabe blogger pipe and smoke it!

Following what Nashville has done is fine, but its not going to get you to the Cup. If it wasn't for Trotz, that team would not have done what it has... over achieve. And good on them. They develop the heck out of their d-men and goalies... that's about it. As for the Southeast division, it was the weakest division in hockey, so I don't think that can be used as an excuse for not making the playoffs. If anything, the Jets are in tougher next season, even with easier travel, which in my opinion is a load of bologna anyway as these are multi-millionaires on charter flights. Pretty sure they are comfortable!

So are you just claiming who I am by labeling me a wannabe hockey blogging saint? Way to contridict yourself buddy, poitning your nose down at me for the exact same think that you just did.

If Burmi could have bben traded for a decent return he would have been. Hanging on to his rights and letting him go hme and grow up a bit was the best option.

It's a good thing for the Jets long term success that Chevy does things his way and doesn't cave to pressure from fans, media or a disgruntled player.

I'd be a lot quicker to fire GM's who overpay for UFA's.
