If vanek scores 50 goals before the deadline he will be worth his weight in gold. - RynoBull
With what linemates is he going to do that? He'd be lucky to score 50 on the whole season, let alone before the deadline. Sometimes you guys are something else. |

And if Queen had balls, she'd be King...
Gagner and MPS from Oilers for Vanek, would be an awesome return for Buffalo, so good in fact, I don't think the Oilers would make that deal...
Although its much more realistic than some Sabres fans were saying in another thread that it would take Eberle or Yakupov PLUS the Oilers 1st for Vanek... - BoBBeR56
My point wasn't the trade, rather the likelyhood of an ACL tear and 50 Goals was about the same sillyness since neither have happened. I will concede that both could happen. |

I agree with your answer to the Oilers question, and although you didn't express your opinion, I don't think Sam Gagner would be a bad acquisition. On the other hand, I think we have better options for Miller. I could certainly see Colorado being a trade partner, as well as St. Louis. I think you can go Miller and a defenseman (McBain or a younger guy), to the Avs for maybe a Ryan O'Reilly, a pick, and some other player, maybe a gritty guy. With St. Louis, I think people were overreacting and thinking we are fully out of those talks. Rumors say that Darcy was trying to shop for Tarasenko or Oshie, and I still think we could pull off a Tarasenko deal, and personally I would love to see him develop on our team rather than theirs. Chime in fellow Sabres fans, I'm interested in hearing your POV's and if there are any other options you see available let me know. |

Vanek is a scoring machine. Imagine what he would be able to do with actual stars on his line. |

Vanek to EDM for Gagner and Paajarvi (both RFAs) It doesn't sound like they have room for Paajarvi where he should be playing so it would really just be dumping salary if EDM thought Vanek would resign after this year.
Miller to VAN for Luongo- they each get a change of scenery and BUFF can use 2nd buyout on Luongo if necessary. Not sure VAN would require that Miller be extended first or ?
Pretty much a $ for $ wash for BUFF, savings for VAN and some well spent $, although not tons, for EDM. - chilidog
1. Can't send Gagner anywhere unless the Oil get a centre back.
2. Oilers have lots of skill up front (not as proven as Vanek, but still), they lack grit.
I've seen a few guys out here saying EDM and BUF aren't great trade partners right now and I agree.

Agreed....
he will probably score 60% of his points in the first 11 games and then disappear for the next 30 games... AGAIN. |

That is definately more likely. If your using last year as a barometer, you should say that 60% of his points in the first 22 games... He would still net over 80 points which would be an excellent season. |

To whoever "Jeff" is....
1) Cooke has scored over 15goals ONCE
2) Cooke has scored over 40points ONCE
3) u can't just have any player u want... They actually have to want to sign with you!
Why don't Sabres fans understand this?
Free agents aren't going to want to come here when they have the option to go play for a contender!
And the ones that don't have that option, shouldn't be signed and given playing time over our youngsters... They need to play to develop...
The constant complaining and whining is ridiculous |

VERY unlikely that Armstrong is going to give Tarasenko (21 year old) who has one season under his belt in St. Louis. More likely going to be Oshie, he has under produced for St. Louis and he is in need of a change. Armstrong has waited 3 years for Tara to come over from the KHL and he won't likely trade a proven KHL prospect over Oshie for a Starter who is on the back nine of his career. Rather suck it up and buy Miller next off season when we have more cap space and take a chance on Els, Jaro, or Allen.
