Stralman has a very VERY overlooked shot.
- aecliptic

not sure if i'd say it's overlooked because he's been known as a powerplay specialist/offensive type of Dman his entire career before coming to NYR and becoming a defense-first kinda guy under torts. i'm just really interested to see how much offense the defense will chip in. under torts, it was either defense-first or you weren't playing...now with AV, we have guys like MDZ, moore, mcdonagh, staal, and stralman who could all legit break out offensively next season. should be exciting.

Like I said, they can shoot all they want, but if they don't learn how to move the puck around quickly, the shots are easily blocked. Problem has always been being braindead, meaning they hold the puck too long and the PK'ers are all in place to defend. The whole point of the powerplay is having an extra man on the ice that is always open, you have to find him. That causes the box to shift for the PK and opens up the scoring lanes. If they learn to pass and find the open man, then their scoring lanes will open and you don't need a blinding 100mph shot to score.

the Flyers have like two contracts on the whole team that actually make sense and Simmonds is one of them.

I am sure they would like to trade it to the Rangers

Its getting close to that time when Sather takes his usual 6 week summer vacation. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of action in the next few days.

I just wonder how Calgary could make a huge push for Ryan O'Reilly, give him that crazy offer sheet, fail, have loads of cap space, and not be ringing Derek Stepan's agent's phone off the hook right about now.

they are still desperate for defensemen so DZ and boyle for simmonds seems possible and holmstrom is their gm so anything can happen and stewart is another option offcourse

washington has green who has a booming accurate shot. not weber or chara booming, but still very, VERY strong. pitt has letang. philly has coburn. montreal has subban. don't watch anaheim enough but they have fowler. florida has campbell. edmonton has schultz. san jose has boyle. LA has doughty. no f'in clue how calgary has a good PP lol.

but yea i think it's more important to have that PP QB Dman that has the vision, passing ability, decently hard shot, and most important, ACCURATE shot that can get on net through traffic.

Second paragraph. You just described brian leetch. We def need a leetch v2

if Tomas Holmstrom was their GM they'd probably want Lundqvist in the deal for Simmonds.

Stop it already it's not gonna happen, teams don't trade a key asset within the division especially for 2 guys who equal the value, Simmonds is not getting moved to anyone any time soon.

I've been saying this too, it's the main reason why there was no transition and the only option was dump and chase, this team needs to focus on that under AV, it will also be nice if we had a set breakout, we must have led the league in nuetral zone turnovers last season

Don't know if you guys talked about this but has anyone seen read the Calgary blog and the comments posted? The players they'd be willing to take from us to help us out is comical, taking a favorable Stralman contract is what they consider help?

The Flyers and Rangers made their trade when they exchanged Syrvet for Newbury. Paul Homlgrem is not trading on of his top 6 wingers for a young defensmen and 4th line center.

Would signing someone familiar with AV make sense? Mason Raymond.

Especially with money left for Step and Hags. Any signing discussion is foolish. We need to lock them up, clear some brush (like Pyatt lol), and then revaluate the roster based on remaining $$
