I'm talking about a shot ala macinnis, chara, souray, weber, etc. A shot pkers are deathly afraid of. I know it's hard to come by but that's what it lacks, but there are poorer man versions of them out there. It needs to accurate too

Girardis shot is probably the best back there. Delzotto shoots lollipop ones. Moore and
Mcdonagh are intriguing so they could be the answer for it. Hopefully anyway!

That blackout shot... overrated for the PP.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/st...l-teams/sort/powerPlayPct

I dont see any teams with booming shots from the point in the top 10.

yea you stick a guy like holmstrom or lucic or someone else with a nasty mindset boyle-sized in front of the net and it turns into a 5 on 3 almost with 1 of the PKers just constantly trying to push the guy out of the crease. cally does pretty well there but he's not big enough to create too much havoc.
- rangerdanger94

I love cally and his game, but he should not be the garbage goal guy in front. It's almost like the team is asking him to do to much. Nash would do well but his slot shot is more important for it and we dont want him taking a beating either. The pp needs a big guy out there. The speed thing isn't as necessary on it once its set up. Clowe, penner or bickell were that guy so hopefully they improvise another way

Net presence, booming shot from the point...

Fact of the matter is, it doesnt matter. The only thing that does matter is that you get shots on net. One good pass turns into a goal no matter how hard the shot or who is in front of the net.

I'm only basing it on what ive seen from the rangers over the years recently. And I know there pp has sucked every year. I know we haven't had a big shot were talking about every year. So I gotta think its at least a necessary part of a good pp

I know souray & adrian aucoin (years ago) had like 20 pp goals one year. I'm sure those pps were up there. Those 2 shots we down right nasty

washington has green who has a booming accurate shot. not weber or chara booming, but still very, VERY strong. pitt has letang. philly has coburn. montreal has subban. don't watch anaheim enough but they have fowler. florida has campbell. edmonton has schultz. san jose has boyle. LA has doughty. no f'in clue how calgary has a good PP lol.

but yea i think it's more important to have that PP QB Dman that has the vision, passing ability, decently hard shot, and most important, ACCURATE shot that can get on net through traffic.

Giordano, Widemen, Iginla and Glencross helped that power play last year.

Again, they are hard accurate shots... not 1000 mph shots.

If our coaches actually knew WTF they were doing on the PP, I think we would be ok and wouldnt constantly be looking at the grass on the other side.

AV knows what he is doing, so lets wait before we start judging a PP we havent seen yet.

A good PP is based on playing together... which our guys didnt do.

The Problom is tho opponents pks know what we have so it's easy to defend to a certain extent. Lacking those 2 things takes away what they would bring and pks don't even have to worry about it. Accurate shots are obviously necessary but a softer shot is easier to block. Blocking shots is becoming an art form in the nhl and the best offense for that defense, is a shot that will break a foot or ankle.

AV isn't even coaching the pp so I wouldn't use him as the poster boy for next years pp. Arniel is doing it supposedly and his pps weren't great either

Just saying the pp could be a similar Achilles heel next year

Would helped if they hit the net. Love Girardi, but if he hit the net more his numbers would be so much better. Del Zotto also goes through long stretches that makes you think he would struggle to hit water if he fell out of a boat.

I wonder if TB would entertain Boyle or pyatt and a pick or prospect for salo? Salo was somewhat successful for AV with the nucks.

Leech didnt have a cannon yet he was a pretty good PP QB. Shot doesn't have to be 100 mph needs to be accurate and hard.. I think Staal is our best PP dman so I hope he is healty enough to play

Leetch was also the best pp QB in the last 25 years tho. I see what you mean but, we don't have a leetch or a zubov even.

Mcdonagh could be the key to it, but he gets so much ice time off of it

Salo is old, carries a 3.75 million dollar cap hit, with a 35+ contract that includes a NMC.

I don't think McD is a good enough passer to QB the PP he also never uses a slap shot just a wrist shot which is pretty sneaky how he gets it off but not an ideal QB.

Staal, MDZ, and Stralman and maybe Moore jury is still out on him are our best options IMO

I think DZ will be PP QB. New PP structure will help him out.

i think moore shows the most promise as PP QB. he has the shot for it, he has the skating, and maybe most important of all, the confidence for it.

Stralman has a very VERY overlooked shot.
