I disagree on the Pyatt front. To me Boyle is MUCH more valuable than Pyatt and gets paid SLIGHTLY more. Pyatt to me, was a plug. And I don't want to pay plugs $1.55M. I can almost get 2 players for the price of Pyatt and both will be as good with the addition of killing penalties. Guy is slow, and sucks. Isn't someone out there for defensive situations like a Boyle. Doesn't win big draws like Boyle, and can't kill penalties like Boyle. Guy is (frank)ing awful and if AV doesn't play favorites he will be watching plenty of games this year.

If there's a gun to your head and u gotta pick either stu bickel or taylor pyatt to make the squad, who do u pick?

At forward or defense? If at forward, Bickell. He is cheaper and not a liability at forward. But he'd be in the press box too.

EDIT: Basically Pyatt isn't $1M better than Bickell

A mza - bickel - pyatt line would be interesting to watch to say the least...maybe painfully brutal is a better word than interesting.

Haha nah put mza on there cuz of how disfunctional that line would look with those 3 dudes. A pylon, a little waterbug, and stu bickel the rock on ice.

Over the last few days, its been reported that the full amount of Asham and Powe's cap hits will not count against the Rangers salary cap if they play in the minors next year. What is the rule on this? I thought that you can't bury a players cap hit in the minors anymore.

Cap geek says we only save $200k if that means anything. I think the writers are wrong thinking of the old rules.

woops phone was bugging out and not letting me type a reply.

the cap hit of the player that we get hit with is their cap hit minus 900k. the 900k comes from the max salary allowed for a 2 way deal.

Well deserved for them.

I know they can only allow four players to enter each year, but how is Dave Andrychuk and his 600+ goals not in yet?

'm not 100% on the exact formula but the idea wasn't to prevent teams from sending marginal NHL players with barely above minimum salaries down to the minors; it was to keep teams like the Rangers from sending Wade Redden to the minors and removing a $6.5M cap hit from the cap. So in the case of Powe and Asham, if they are sent to the minors the Rangers would still carry a portion of their cap hit but not the full amount. I want to say it allows for $900K to be sent down but I will look it up to be sure.

Your post made me look at his stats, and I saw that he scored 37 goals as a Ranger one year. I have no recollection of that, perhaps because I was a young professional at the time and very busy, or perhaps because I completely have blocked some of those years from by recollection.

I definitely remember that year, the "FLY" line. Fleury-Lindros-York.

Lindros was great that year, concussion derailed it

I liked Lindros, thought he was a good pick up for the Rangers. In my closet I found an authentic Rangers Lindros jersey when I was moving a couple of months ago. It was from one of those years where the NHL was promoting old jerseys from the original 6. It has the Rangers Crest on the front and a small gold V for vintage on the chest, nice jersey, forgot I had it.
