I am not sure if it was ever brought up, but does anyone see Sean Avery asking for a tryout with there being a new coach? - mames11
The players can't stand him. Weren't his few buddies gaborik and prust?
Let him keep hemming dresses or whatever the hell he is doing. And that's coming from a guy who's fav player was Avery for a time. |

I personally think, maybe in as soon as next year, the notion that people once wanted to trade Del Zotto will be viewed as insane. To me Staal, Girardi, and Mac all are very similar in their style. Del Zotto has the potential to bring something the others can't in a true dynamic offensive dman. I feel trading Staal just makes too much sense (if forced to trade a defensemen). We have shown we can defend just fine without him and he has more value than DZ. Just my 2 cents.
That is unless the silly EDM rumor came true - mrhattrick27
I don't think its a matter of potential with MDZ. Sometimes you have to take a valuable asset and use it to make the team even better. Its all going to hinge on Staal and his ability to play up to his standards. If he can we could see a deal involving MDZ.

If Carolina doesn't want staal in his present condition with the eye, then I say jiri tlusty for DZ is a perfect trade. I wonder if delzotto is enough tho because tlusty broke out last year. He was a stud playing 1st line minutes, so all we gotta do is slot him in with Stepan and Nash. - Slimtj100
Would never make that deal. Staal for Skinner...straight up. |

Evidently..... MDZ, Miller, McIllrath, a 1 for Hall and Gagner. Yea right.. Must of been an Ek like rumor..... - mrhattrick27
Yeah...I agree...someone (Ranger fan) was certainly smoking something good when they thought of that. |

Well i dont think staal for skinner sppeals to them right now .
Tlusty:23 goals on 48 games, after a decent year in 11-12. We need a LW who can score. He's 25. Guys blossom later then expected sometimes. As 13th overall pick, he obviously has talent. Not sure right now we could get a player as good as him for DZ. Condodering his low value, that's why I think we're better off holding on to him instead of worrying about the left right thing |

On the trading Staal debate, I think back to a few years ago when we were replacing Drury as captain. I personally felt that the order of captain possibilities went 1 Callahan 2 Dubinksy 3 Staal and that was partially due to the common thread idea that a forward should be captain.
When I think heart and soul of the Rangers I think of Cally and Danny G, and when I reflect on who the Rangers best defender is, I say Mac Truck without hesitation.
Only after this shortened season can anyone deny that Staal was emerging into one hell of an offensive defenseman? And to all those promoting MDZ breaking out under Vingeault(which I think he will also), if healthy, Staal has shown that he can be our most versatile defenseman, and I'm hesitant to let him go despite the possible Skinner scenario.
Which is there any proof beyond speculation of that? I mean we aren't even penciling Staal into our top 4, and Carolina wants to trade their upcoming promising forward just to satisfy the Staal brothers? Skinners contract is undeserved, which is the only reason I could see Carolina moving him for a one-eyed Staal(as far as they know) |

What value of a top-six forward would you be refering to which a Del Zotto trade could bring in?
15 - 20 goals? Maybe a 25goal/50 point guy? Would you deal with the Flyers and try to get Simmonds for a MDZ package? - mames11
I don't think the Rangers and Flyers would make a major trade, so I don't even consider that as a remote possibility |

Agreed.... it's hard. Staal right before that injury was really emerging...We have plenty of good defensemen and at some point something has to give. That is the only real issue. Since McIllrath isn't ready though I'd be fine going in with the team we have and seeing how it plays out. |

I am getting tired of 90% of these trade possibilities. Everyone is just talking out of their ass being bored at work. |

It's the truth tho, anyone who brings up a trade between the Rangers and Flyers knows that they're talking about pure fiction. |

I am definitely tired of reading trade possibilities that bring in a player making over 5 million a year.
Evander Kane, Taylor Hall.
they definitely make me do this > |

That and every 15 minutes potential line combos are posted...
Relax people! Go outside, or join me on the World of Warcraft, but quit posting line combos!
Also yeah is Staal going to be ready to go? If this is the case I think moving him or MDZ makes the most sense...
I Agree that Staal, McDonagh and Girardi don't seem to have the offense that MDZ has, but we'll see!

I think you guys need Del Zotto. He's your most skilled d-man in all facets of offense. He should thrive under a new coach too. I know the cap is a consideration but I'd only move him as a last resort. |

That game is still around?
I am waiting for FF14 (MMORPG) to give me that genre fix. I need a WoW-like game on PS3. I can only play so much Dark Souls 2. |

Personally, I'd keep DZ. If I had to move a d-man, then it would be Staal for a scoring winger.
I see more offense production from DZ, McD, and even Strahlman.
The team was not bad last year; just the power(less)play was an absolute disaster. I wouldn't make many changes other than depth for the beginning of the season with Hags and Cally out. |
