A comment on NHL.com's article about possible hall of fame inductees this year (Lindros was one of them):

"Seriously? Eric Lindors is a candidate? You mean the same Eric Lindros who had the opportunity to be drafted into the NHL but refused to play for the Nordiques. The same one who signed multiple contracts and became a concussion freak. Give me a break. You're talking about the Hockey Hall of fame. This plug should never be considered a great one."

It just kinda russled my jim-jams, so I thought I'd share

It's an interesting debate. I think he belongs in there. But some don't. For a lot of the reasons mentioned. Although not sure what the multiple contract thing is about. And it's certainly not his fault that he got the concussions.

Does anyone else we should take a chance and sign Jonathan Blum? His offensive upside is intriguing, and I'm guessing he'd be relatively inexpensive.

Yes. It's low risk-high reward.

Blasphemous.

It never hurts to take a chance on a player. Although the Flyers only have one, or possibly 2 contract slots open. So I think the Flyers may want to keep it that way in case they find a deal they like.

I believe Nashville declined to qualify him. Making him a Free Agent.

I'm all for signing a young defenseman. Plenty of time to grow and develop.

I don't think they would unless they dumped a contract or two, mainly a D.

Contract slots are a valuable commodity. Do you agree that Wellwood is a waste of a contract slot this year? I understand the Flyers wanted to do right by the kid, but hockey is a business, and Wellwood won't be able to contribute anything this season.

I think we can clear roster spots whenever we need by just trading an unwanted career AHLer for a 7th rounder or future considerations or whatever.

They can always move a contract if needed.

I hear you. But there is something to be said for loyalty. It's like in Football, where they say, you don't lose your spot in the lineup due to injury. Wellwood was in the mix before the injury. So why should they dump him because he got injured?

he gets my vote, even if he played for the orange and black. health issues aside, he deserves it. the nordiques thing doesnt even factor into my decision.

crosby will be right there with him. concussion issues that may arise, but while on the ice the production was just so dominant that you cant deny them entry.

The thing that'll benefit Crosby is that Gary Bettman himself genetically engineered a generational talent to save the Penguins franchise via super-rigged lottery he's won a Cup.
