According to Carchidi, Morin excelled in the physical testing today. Specifically sprints and the high jump.

Good assets for a stay at home dman to have, i guess.

I was there last night and he is skinny. Needs to hit the weight room a bit.

I never understood the point of testing NHL players on the high jump. Seems pointless.

It is a good indicator of explosiveness. How fast your legs can get you moving from a standstill...

I'm not convinced that he can't come along with a decent offensive game. I feel we should have drafted more of a natural puck mover but you just never know. Chris Pronger is still under contract and I think he should walk the same path Lappy has. Help develop the likes of Morin, Schenn and Gustafsson. Any disadvantage Pronger had physically, it's his smarts that always made him over come.

Pronger also had a bomb for a shot. Morin not there yet. Still very young and raw.

real stud right there haha
- stayinthefnnet

That's my point. I'm not expecting a stud even. But name one player the Flyers drafted in the last 10 after 1st round that is better. Too early to say Stolarz or Hagg, though I think Hagg will be a great pick.

Buffalo finally admitting defeat and are in rebuild mode. They should have gave Ville Leino his walking Papers.

It's going to be like watching paint dry for a while until Mez is declared fit. I think he's the next piece to move.

Stone Harbor is an easy town to get around. Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 10 and head into town. It turns into 96th street, which is the beach they will be running on. After the beach stuff, the Yacht club is 3 blocks west of the beach and about 13 blocks north of 86th street.

The School is nearby, near the Wawa at the corner of Third and 94th sts.

Offense isn't all goals. Kimmo Timonen's offense in my opinion hasn't dropped as some might think. Both Pronger and Timonen are very smart playmakers from the blueline in the offensive zone. Timonen is still a 40 plus point player for a defenseman, which is still among one of the best in the league. It was well known Matt Carle never had an overly threating shot bit still managed to produce offensively. My hope is that Samuel Morin can put together a balanced game.

yeah i dont think kimmos offense has dropped off that much either. its more in the defensive area, and even that i think has more to do with injuries than actual tailing off. he has always been more of a smart guy based on positioning and sound stickwork than physicality anyway. that holds up very well over time, as does his intelligence and passing on offense. hes like a pitcher in baseball that relies on location as opposed to overpowering stuff. has a long shelf life due to his mental acumen for the game

It'd be amazing if someone could find a scouting report of Chris Pronger before he was drafted.

Zach is a good player, but he is a role player. If he retired tomorrow they would slot someone else in and be just fine. Harry z could have taken that role and cost them nothing. By significant I mean 1st or 2nd line forward or 1-4 defense.

And I'm not even expecting a Weber or Bergeron 2nd round grand slam either. But they should have been able to draft one kulemin, or lucic, or Dubinsky or Goligoski.

- TheGreat28

Now you're changing the premise. You said that they haven't drafted one player since 2003 that has made a significant contribution to the team. I showed you that you were wrong. Now you want to change it to top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman. If Harry Z could've taken that role, the Flyers wouldn't have gotten rid of him.
The original premise that you responded to was that fans know better then the professional talent evaluators working for the Flyers. You stated that some analysts, bloggers, and fans know just as much. I disagree with that.
If you want to have a different conversation about the Flyers drafting history for picks after the first round, you have a point.
