The Sens just picked up Bobby Ryan, who is better than over-hyped Silfverberg, junk prospect Noesen and an old man Alfie. Sure, Bryan Murray is definitely screwing that organization by bring in a 35 goal scorer. But you know about 35 goal scorers lately don't you?

Ryan was a 35 goal scorer on the Ducks. What he contributes on the Senators remains to be seen. Its hard to sit and make definitive statements before anyone laces them up for their new team.

Might just be immaterial with Melnyk's cash burn rate. He may not be able to tread water much longer and that opens up a realm of possibilities.

Depends on who you're asking, I've never been a fan of his really, I was dying for them to trade him after last season when he had 30 something goals and his value was through the roof. I knew it was just a mirage, but I'm getting off topic. I could see paajarvi and maybe a first being a good trade for him, personally I think wed be fleecing you guys if that went through though.

As for the Vanek deal, I don't know too much about the Oilers prospects but based on what Cloutier just wrote I'd think a deal would look something like:

Paajarvi, Lander, 1st and a prospect that isn't one of the untouchables. It's steep but if they really are surplus' it really shouldn't be a huge problem.
