12 forwards and 6 d

yes, it should be roughly 2:1 in spending honestly

- Dozzer

How much have the cup winners been spending on their defense? They spend a higher ratio on D because D wins championships.

yes, but they mostly were up against 3rd and 4th lines

i simply do not think fraser has the wheels to start defending against top 6 forwards

who knows? got to try it before you give up on it tho

you know i am with you on this one when it comes to starting the season

got to get ink to paper on both before anything tho

- Dozzer

Franson had the second most minutes on defense on the team. Gunnarsson and Kostka spent a lot of time next to Phaneuf. Second pairing was Franson and Fraser. They didn't play against 3rd and 4th lines. Nothing changes. Phaneuf and partner will always play against the top line. Our second pairing of Franson Frasesr is very significant.

What Nonis is doing is what most GMs of the LEafs do, stock up on a good crop of forwards and put all the pressure on the goaltending.

Your defelecting from the main point that they haven't left enough room to improve the main area that needed improvement and making it about wether Kadri makes 3 or 4 mil.

D improves itself through prospects over the next 2-3 yrs...

this team won't be a contender without Rielly anyway. By time he's here, the entire D core will look different.

while i am hesitant to see carlyle break those two up the key issue here is franson is a top 4 d-men, fraser, not so much

they will have to be broken up eventually for franson to keep progressing forward

- Dozzer

We, like a lot of teams, are desperately short on right-handed shots on the blueline.

Dion plays like poop when he's on the right side so there's not alot of options outside of Gunnarsson.

But if he's healthier next year, it'll be an improvement over the 11.23% of Holzer and 8.14% of Kostka Phaneuf had to deal with at even strength.

franson got PP time

5 on 5 fraser and him were third pairing

you cant just take one guy.. who got PP time, and make your argument

how many minutes were played together 5 on 5? thats what sets what pairing you are on

cause he played #1PP.

he as 6th in even strength. Fraser was 7th. Gardiner and Liles ahead of both of them make up 1 guy.

And yes, Franson and Fraser did play against 3rd lines - they played with Kadri's line most of the time, who played against 3rd line.

By that time the guys they want to keep will be due for more money. Say for instance your right and they keep getting better. Fran and Fras get one year deals, and then they improve, Gardner as well. They will get even more money next off season and soforth, this is the classic cap scenario. I know you guys want to be optimistic, but they really aren't being that smart right now.

I think I'll wait until they offer up a better incentive like some free DLC. Same with the PS4.

The others played with Phaneuf which jacks time on ice totals up.

No problem Dozzer to be honest at first I didn't even look. I went by what I remember. They were on the ice together a ton and were really solid.

You saying Kostka was a top pairing? Gardiner? I'll give you Gunnarsson. They played with Phaneuf. Period. None kept their job there so you see lots of shifting.
