Kadri had a decent half season of play, on mostly the 3rd line.
I'd wait to see what he can on the 2nd line for a season before moving him to number 1.
For now we are stuck with bozak as our number 1 center.
- Fakepartofme
I agree with you, but I'm more of a trial by fire type of guy. Kadri's the type of player I want to push hard, and I think one of the biggest reasons for his slow down in production towards the end there was he was trying to do it all himself in the offensive zone, as his linemates stopped scoring. He won't have that problem with Phil.
We're talking about a 22 year old as opposed to an 18 to 20 year old. Time to take the reigns off the kid. Obviously, he'll have to win the #1 spot in training camp, I just hope Carlyle hasn't written his lines in stone like last year. |

I'd give a guy who scored 44 points in 48 gp, and did well in the #1 line role in the playoffs every opportunity to win that #1 spot. I mean, his teamates have been saying all along (since preseason last year), that he has the sickest hands. In the end, talent will win out...and the good news is, Kadri will be coming to camp in shape for sure in September..Ramadan starts tomorrow. - mykokes
The keys to making the jump into the playoffs last year were improved PK, goaltending, some real truculence, and good, if not surprising, offensive years for Kadri and Franson.
Carlyle will keep them truculent, the goaltending should be maintainable with Bernier added, the most important PK guys are still there - the real key for me is the play of Kadri and Gardiner. Those two playing more minutes and playing them well will determine whether they take a step backwards, maintain, or improve on last years results. |

BLOWOUT LOSERS - Toronto Maple Leafs
I try to look past contract terms and salaries when judging free-agent signings because if you go by that, you will hate every contract. Everyone is overpaid. But Bozak is not very good at hockey unless you put him with very good players. You know how you can put literally anyone (P.A. Parenteau, Brad Boyes) on the right side of John Tavares and that player will have great numbers? That’s Bozak. He’s the center of Tavares right wings.

I' don't mean to tee off you one this one, but it simply isn't true.
Which is part of the problem.
Everybody says that we need to be more vigilant these days, and that's what is causing the problem.
The climate of fear is making us make irrational decisions.

not tee off and it's your opinion which is valid doesn't mean I agree with it.
yes the media has played a big role in the paranoia to protect our children.
had a moment with my daughter when see was young once so I get a little protective toward them.

being protective is okay.. in fact.. its a must
sheltering them is not tho imo
i think a lot of parents confuse the two. its one thing to be there watching intently as they make mistakes and then help them learn from them
its quite another to try and wrap them in bubble wrap so to speak so the mistakes never get made
mistakes are more important than successes in the maturing process imo.

Though I wasnt that harsh, I more or less agree! Also, anyone else notice him much in the playoffs (before he got hurt)...I didnt. - Colin Dambrauskas

I agree 100% on the Bozak Part... I would have just kept Grab instead... Clarkson..who knows.
Maybe a Gary Roberts type acquisition... but probably more like Eric Lindros |

Bang on. The Canucks and flames assessments are money to.
Weird. I thought score writers were the Tyler bozaks of sport journalism. This was pretty good. |

Only time will tell but Nonis must have really wanted that 1.3/yr in cap savings and/or to maintain the Bert n Ernie love affair. I can't see what else is to gain. |

According to Howard Berger; Not the greatest but he knows more people than we do.
Talked to WHL scout Sunday. He said: "No one should be surprised if Morgan Rielly blows everyone away at #Leafs training camp. A keeper." WHL scout added: "With Rielly and (Jake) Gardiner, #Leafs will have two of the most dynamic young skaters in hockey on the blue line. |

I love how everyone is bashing the Leafs signings yet multiple media outlets had Clarkson as the highest ranked free agent and some had Bozak as high as 4
5.25 isn't the end of the f-ucking world. Does anyone even watch hockey? It's not all about numbers, the guy is a gamer.
Bozak is a 2nd line centre that is getting paid like a 2nd line centre that is playing with top tier wingers. 4.2 isn't that bad either, he is an effective player that is still learning and improving every year.
Look at some cap comparables. Same contract as Mike Fisher,Brandon Dubinsky, TJ Oshie, Joe Pavelski |

Agreed. Let Rielly develop. Why rush him...but if the kid blows everyone away, and is ready..let him go (as in play), if not, let him develop. As for Gardiner, he'll be a top paring dman. I'm confident he'll go back to his old style, may take time...but coach better not scratch the kid anymore. |

Folks the best way I can put this....... Blowzak at $4.25 mil is a better option than Grabo at $5.5 mil.
I don't think much of Blowzak, but Grabo is a puck hog that reminds me of Berezin.
Neither one of them is a 2C in my view. Blowzak is a serviceable 4C, who can move up to fill in for an injury. Hopefully his tenure here is for one or two more years TOPS. |

hmmm, if Bozak is P.A. Parenteau.....should we really be complaining? Moving to Colorado, away from John Taveres hasn't exactly hindered Parenteau has it? |
