If they were gone, then yes. At that point we would be so desperate for NHL experience. Yeah cant literally field an AHL team and expect people to pay for that. But Jagr doesn't scream team player like Steve Ott for example. - Buffalo--Sabres
As much as I like Ott. He can't show any tricks of the trade scoring touches. Jagr is and has been one of the hardest working players in the game (not talking his play in his own zone) but the work he does pre and post practices are something that NHL rookies need to learn. It's more than a publicity stunt IMO. That is if it happens. |

Nope. Look back at the 2-3 years prior to the lockout. Not saying Buffalo isn't a hockey market. Just saying they won't keep paying for garbage. Which can be good if its a catalyst for change. - schiefer466
ok but there are certain markets where the team can be terrible and the fans will show up. |

they will, especially in a hockey market like buffalo. - Jurco_28
Buffalo wasn't always the hockey hotbed it is now. After Peca and Hasek were gone this was a hockey ghost town. The bankruptcy and threat of moving didn't help. But games were rarely over 50% attended and free tickets were abundant like it a minor league baseball team. And remember this fanbase is hung on Ryan Miller. Maybe not the 36 fans on this site, but the 10 of thousands that watch and buy tickets are. |

There really is only one. And that's Toronto. And thats only because of the insane demand. Every other market in either county has shown attendance declines during extended periods of losing. Detroit, Minnesota, Buffalo, hell even Boston and Montreal. Noone is immune. |

Things can be hot and cold in this town. There was a Time when the Buffalo Bisons had a million visitors in a season for a few years in a row. The Bills used to be a way of life. Everything revolved around the Bills. Bank tellers in Bills jerseys on Friday. Now they would be fired on the spot for unprofessionalism. |

Don't forget Chicago. They couldn't get 10,000 people there on game night until they turned it around |

I was alive in the 80's. and the wings still don't sell out every game. And it's common knowledge some early playoff games don't sell out there. |

Ironically they wanted to move East so bad but I think they'd have a better shot at the playoffs in the West this coming season. |

yea... he didn't sign there because of that. He signed there because they gave him the big money and its a place you can go and not be in the spotlight. He will be bought out in 4-5 yrs. |

I don't think he'll be bought out. He's decent enough of a player. And with the cap supposedly exploding over the next few years his cap hit will become less of an issue. |
