The funny thing about sequin being like this is that all my friends wanted sequin because he seemed more humble and wasn't all about himself. This guy is a loser and it's going to affect his career if he doesn't get it together - CrustyRooster

I am not looking at Vanek for his talent. I am thinking of him as a contract dump with a guy that has 1 year left on his contract. That decreases his value. As for Ott, he is a big member of that team but where does he fit with their youth movement? However Vanek isn't really the guy I want anyways. It has always been Ott. This was more of an I'd be willing to take Vanek, only if they give me the player I want in return.
Vanek is not the guy the Oilers need. Not yet. He would cost us too many pieces to get and would be our highest priced guy. He would bring us skill but we would pay a lot to have a guy for a year. - Hall Fan
Good post, Ott would be perfect for this Oilers , but for the same reasons Buffalo won't move him, he's perfect for that team right now too. I do think that Vanek just makes the water muddy in that trade. We would have to pay dearly for a player we don't want. If The Sabres want to move him the deadline is the best bet as a rental. He should get you way more than Iginla did, probably a 1st, 2nd a prospect and a mid level roster player. More than we could offer at this point.
I think as far as big moves go that Mac T is done. A stop gap option for 2L ( Latendresse on a 2 yr deal?) and ride out this D for a year.
Next summer we will more attractive to FA's and our prospects will be either worth more in trade, or ready to make some current players expendable. |

Ahhh....does anyone really believe the Oil were even considering Seguin over Hall? That was them toying with the media to hype the draft and drum up excitement .they had Hall penciled in the second they won the Lottery. |

Chris Stewart isn't worth as much as Bobby Ryan just went for. People need to stop with these ridiculous trade proposals. |

No but we were trying to acquire the 2nd overall to get him as well. We offered Cogliano and Hemsky. Chiarelli asked for Hemsky and Eberle. We said no. |

The German is correct. Stewart is good, but there are issues with attitude and fitness levels.no where the same level as Ryan consistently . |

I didn't know that. Seguin for those two would be a steal, even back then. |

Why take the most extreme example of insanity and claim it to be an entire fanbases factual thinking?
Also, overloving your teams players is many an Oiler fans speciality. - kingcong39
because about 8/10 BUF fans on the thread found it to be fair value. Also I said the BUF fanbase on this site. Not the whole fan base |

Ott is a huge part of that team there. No offense, PRV and Hemsky realistically doesn't even get you Vanek, let alone him and Ott.
If you wanted Vanek AND Ott, it would have to be something like......
Paajarvi, Klefbom, 2014 1st, Marincin
And even then I'm not sure, Buffalo could want more proven talent in that deal and ask for a guy like Gagner instead of Klefbom and the 1st - mochoson

I wouldn't trade Gagner for Ott, n I certainly wouldn't trade Paajarvi, Marincin, and a 1st for a year of vanek |

Hell ya. Our team would look a lot different with Seguin and RNH as the top 2 centers |

Richard Cloutier: Jagr, Hemsky, Gagner, Jones, Paajarvi, and other Rumors - Maxbone
Your disrespect for the Oilers' player names is disgusting. I wish you weren't the hockey buzz blogger of the Oilers, you're an embarrassment. I feel sorry for you, and the fact that you feel the need to be "funny" by making up names for them. I'm also appalled of your ignorance in the history of these players and your lack of knowledge about them. I actually feel dumber after reading your blogs and refuse to going forward.
Grow up and learn to do some real journalism.
Welcome to the team:

agreed. there are players to be acquired thru trade, especially this rumor with the blues. if it's way too costly, just stick with a free agent on a one year term and head back at it next frenzy.
morrow, cleary, latendresse is good. what is the drawback of taking someone off a centre position to a wing position? i guess i can try to reverse the thought of putting hall to centre instead of wing... |

The only true power forward LW on the market right now is Evander Kane. I would gladly give up a package like Ottawa just did for Bobby Ryan to get him. Paajarvi, Marincin, 2014 1st is what I would offer. Its a lot to give up but Kane is the poop! |

Stewart is tough and can play both wings.... it would be nice to get him. I doubt Kane is on the market |
