You also lose a solid young 23 year old RHD as well though. And I agree that anything over 2 million is too much at this point, but what I'm saying is that Gillis should try to get this deal done and avoid losing him for a second round pick.
I'd take a signed Tanev at 2 or 3 years at around 1.5 million over a mid-late 2nd rounder(plus a new roster hole, and a weaker depth chart) anyday of the week.
Corrado would then become the second best RHD on the team, with Yannick Weber being the third, and imagine if Bieksa goes down. - Nucker101
$1.5m is a no brainier.
Compensation is only a 3rd rounder. It turns to a 2nd rounder over $1.682m.
If it starts getting over $2m on a short term deal Gillis needs to draw the line. |

With all the centers that Gillis brought in I wonder if Schroeder will be offererd a new contract. I can see him being offered 900K but he made 1,025 000 last year. Will he take a pay decrease? |

Would hate to see Schroeder walk away. Would like to see what he can do if given a fair shot by Torts. What's the point of developing a guy if you are going to let him leave. |

No team is going to take that risk for Chris Freaking Tanev. As soon as a team would send an offer sheet they're fair game to all other GM's. If a team is going to send an offer sheet, they better be sure that he's a surefire talent. |

It is crazy I know, but do the Canucks need that money elsewhere , and is he really part of the plan going forward? |

I do understand the Canucks need money elsewhere. Just not sure who they would spend it on. We are so tight to cap we would be better off trading someone who makes more than 3 mil and keeping Schroeder at around 1.
I don't think anyone knows what the plan is going forward. I think MG is treading water. Get thru this year then the cap is going up again. |

Not disagreeing. I see our four centers this year as Sedin Kesler Horvat Richardson.I have a feeling JS will be packaged off
My prediction
Lu Edler Schroeder Hansen for Vanek Miller |

I would rather trade him than lose him for nothing. Would even package him with someone.
Not to sure if Horvat makes the team, also worried we might be rushing him into NHL. Would not be upset with him developing a bit more. Worried that the pressure of him being what we got for Cory could be a bit much. |

Sounds like because of Cap 3 rd line center may be up for whoever grabs it from within.
I also think kids these days are much more NHL ready these days than they were 10 years ago. With the high salaries and exposure kids start training at 4 |

Would be nice to get rid of the Luo contract. Vanek would be a nice piece to add, would have to play him with the twins because Kes does not pass.
I would be open with swapping Edler for Myers, try and make him our reclamation project, just a hefty price tag to go with him (5.5 until 2019).
If they take Lu we would probably have to take Leino back.
Vanek and Miller both UFA's and could walk after next season. Doubt we could afford to resign them both. |

I know we need ELC playing on the team for cap relief. Should be an interesting battle for 3C. I just hope one of the kids don't make the team then get stuck on the 4th line. Would rather they play somewhere else and get minutes. I do like how Torts will let kids play more than AV did. |

It's be a public relations nightmare for MG if he doesn't resign JS. The kid is gonna be a solid 2nd liner in his career. If he can't fit him in the top 9 this season then it's in both parties best interest for a deal to be made...
I personally like the kid and hope he's the 3LC this season. Horvat is 2 years away - let's not rush him.... |

Camp should be interesting. Hoping Gaunce shows up ready to battle for a spot, see what Hunter can do, and hoping for some dark horses to push for spots. |

cammalleri > booth. better hockey iq. gets in those dirty areas. can actually do something in the playoffs. and has that edge in his game that booth lacks. i do realize he makes more (6mill) compared to booths (4.3mill)... maybe calgary would do a straight swap? - unplugged_boy
Booth absolutely goes to the dirty areas. He drives hard to the net and has no problem going into the corners (it's where he was hauled down and sprained his ankle this season). He's also 6 ft. Cammalleri's 5'9. |

Of course not. But he is being brought in to battle for it. That is why he signed. I would be surprised if he isnt centering the third line. - KOS
I think the goal is to have one of the kids center the 3rd line. It makes way more sense to have a more defensively responsible Richardson on the 4th line with one of the kids playing with the more defensively responsible Hansen and Higgins to help limit his mistakes. They also have the offensive ability to contribute with whichever kid gets the call, rather than sticking him with 2 pylons on the 4th line. |

They're keeping that spot open for one of the kids to win. Horvat, Gaunce or (yuck) Schroeder. |

to Calgary
David Booth, Jordan Schroeder, 2nd Round pick. Keep 1 Million dollars of Booth Salary over 3 years.
To Vancouver:
Cammalleri. Calgary Keeps 3.5 Million dollars of his salary over one year. (UFA next season)
Vancouver gets a 3LC with 2.5 caphit for one year, and receive an extra 2.5 million to work with this season. Calgary gets a few pieces to help with their rebuild, and 3 million of their 3.5 million refunded over a 3 year period. - Gullzy
Booth only has 2 years left. |

No to weise. A 4th line position can be better filled. - bloatedmosquito
Weise has been qualified. He'll very likely be back as 12/13/14 forward. |

Schroeder has virtually no trade value. Might be able to get a 2nd round pick, but likely less. |
