I would have to say that the Cubs are the most popular which is a joke but then the Hawks because they are the flavor of the month right now. College isn't as popular as pro sports. - CanUSA17
The Bears have to be the most popular. Ive been to chi town a few times and its a cubs and bears town. I would also say the Bulls are more popular than the hawks.
At the end of the day its USA and hockey will always be behind the other major sports. The cosby show still gets higher ratings than most NHL games in the US. |

Definitely a Bears town. It's the only team that has a clear majority in this town. Cubs/Sox, fairly even split (though Cubs probably have more fans outside of Chicago than the Sucks do), Bulls/Hawks split with an edge to the Bulls.
Bears are the kings though. |

I think that if Luongo is/was angry that Tortorella's comments last week might have gone a long way to bridge the gap between management and player. He came out in full support of Luo, unlike Vignoult with his flip flopping. |
|
|
|
Kind of hard for Torts to flip flop when we only have one starter now. |

$1.15/season for two years.
I'll be shocked if the guy ends up on the 3rd line.
Sounds like he's a better 4th liner than most that they've had in recent years, though. |

Gilman was on 1040 today, said he expects him to be the 10 forward, able to play c or w if needed, and has the ability to shift up to the 3rd, so it sounds like he's expected to be on the 4th - keslover17
Yup. This makes sense.
I've heard positive things about him, but he's not a regular 3rd liner. |

Funny, I called one of the Fake fans that yesterday for bringing up the same crap people have been chirping for a year.
Personally, I don't like a business I don't support that business. I don't whine about it and keep shopping there.
You don't like what Gillis is doing with the Canucks I'm sure the Oilers or Maple Leafs have room on their fan clubs for you. |

Yep, and unfortunately Kassian probably won't get any better—most forwards peak at 22, right...? - Fosco
19 actually...all down hill.
Hodgson= Ribeiro ish
Kassian= Clarkson ish
Both are 5+million dollar player. Both are important to teams in different ways. |

Meh.
You're probably talking to the wrong guy—I'm a Schroeder fan, and I thought he played well enough to win the spot last season...
At least when he was with better players than Sestito and Weise. |

I don't disagree.. but you have to remember that Kesler will miss at least 20 games next year.
And you want Hank, JS, Richardson, Santorelli for 20 games next year? They need to add some depth at C.. someone who can fill in on the 2nd line if need be.. or a least a guy who can fill in on the 3rd with quality support.
They need to make some sort of major move to improve that top 6 (same story as last year) |

I'm not going to say Kesler will or won't get injured. I don't know that, and I'm not going to say it'll happen just because it's happened in the past.
Obviously any injury requires players to shift up the depth chart. Unfortunately the Canucks aren't in the best position financially to have the sort of depth that can they can comfortably replace a key piece like Kesler.
I did really like Shroeder's play during the brief stint he was with Hansen or Raymond last season, I felt that line should have stuck, and I think Schroeder will improve.
I also feel he's better offensively than a guy like Richardson and more than capable defensively.
There's no easy solution when a guy like Kesler goes down, especially when there are limited assets, and limited cap space.

Horvat. Man is probably going to be better than kesler in the all around game and is very clutch. You can put him in pressure situation and he will get the job done
I dont care if we just drafted him. Im with chompsey, we need to play the young guns |

Don't think either BoHo or HuSh are ready for the NHL.
If one or both irrefutably win a spot out of camp, fine.
But if it's a toss-up between either of them and a more developed prospect, or a veteran, the more developed player should get the spot. |
