Agreed
Phaneuf has been a minus player every year for the Leafs and no one ever questions his effectiveness. - robin_steele264

Respectfully disagree.. as a player when you are on the ice... you have a job to do.. and that is score and not be scored upon.. sure you can be screwed on a line.. but if your plus minus is much worse than your line-mates than you are the problem. - DoctorNHL
You can get dinged with a minus on a line change though, where it's not your fault at all. That happens quite a bit. |

Fair enough. Thats pretty messed up though.
Its like.. the better Kadri gets, the more he will have to be cuffed to line 2 to keep balance in the top 6. All because we don't have a real number 1.
Don't get me wrong, Bozak works where he is. But that's pretty much it. But to me, that's just too bad. - UsernameUnknown
evgeni malkin says hello
line 2 centres still can get prime PP ice time and, if talented enough, forces teams to split their defensive focus
maybe if you look at it as lines 1A and 1B |

so.. if you are back checking down the one side and the d-man on the other side misplays the puck and it goes in your net you're responsible? even if you had nothing to do with the play?
yeah.. no. not buying it. |

Since murray and hainsey were not signed yesterday I expect them to get cheap contracts in which Nonis should take a look at since we lost out on ference and scuderi - Mapleleafs_91
Murray & Hainsey are both leftys no? Don't we need a righty? Not saying I wouldn't love to have any of the 2. |

There's a trade looming for some defence. I know Nonis said there's not, and GM's are always candid and honest, but I think there's something. |

I'd take either one a 1 or 2 year deal. But you'd have to jettison Liles if you do. |

Tuckers career in toronto was a total of -1... if you honestly think all his intangibles (that you somehow just disregard due to +/-) arent worth that 1 extra goal the opposition scored then wow
ps most of his time in toronto was not next to sundin... |

I think we're a good defenseman away from being in conference finals, and a good defenseman and a legit 1C away from being contenders. However, we will be a lot better team this year IMO.
JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson (will turn into everybody's fav line)
Mcclement-Bolland-Kuli
Mclaren-Colborne-Orr/Ashton
Losing Komo killed us I think. But overall not bad. Maybe switch up a little on 3rd and 4th line. I love Orr's heart but Mclaren is a lot better hockey player I think. But Carlyle likes both of them out there I believe. And I think we own Boston this year with how tough this lineup got. |

Give Franson 3.25 for 3 years.
Give Gunnarsson 2 for 3 years.
Kadri gets 3.5 for 3 years
That leaves us with about 2m in space which we can tuck away for a rainy day. That 2m will probably be eaten up by Kessel's new deal(7.5per) and whatever raise in the cap will have to cover everyone else.
Let someone from the marlies come up and try to earn a spot. We've had a few cooking in the minors for the last few years, may as well give them a shot.

I guess. Doesnt matter, as long as we score. Which we had no problem with last year.
I'm not thrilled with Bozak, but the situation could be a hell of a lot worse.
We have two solid scoring lines that will produce!
Now we need a D for phanny. |

lol basing a guys career on +-
Wendel Clark was a real loser to....career minus....terrible for the Leafs. - BlowMonkey
Blow you bring up a good point... about Wendel.. but I think it is apples to oranges in comparison... Wendel was pretty solid during his good years.. and the endthe toll paid on him.
But he also didn't get the pleasure of playing with a career plus player and still be a minus.. Clark played on some bad Leaf teams.. and was for the most part a pleasure to watch.
Tucker played with Career plus players and was a minus.. there is a difference in my opinion.. to balance this statement I do have a Tucker signed shirt. |
