Again, if Subban was arbitrated after this seasson he's getting huge money, 6 plus mil. Franson will likely get 4 plus I'de say. And it doesn't bode well to be going to arbitration with a whole bunch of guys that just played really well and made headway.
- aminnes

This I do not dispute, however I don't think that half a season worth of sheltered minutes after a season spent in large part as a healthy scratch is enough basis to be demanding over $4m. Give him 3m per, or just below, for a couple of years and tell him to prove his worth, just as MTL did with PK...

Not to downplay Franson, as I definitely like his game, but I think he needs to prove himself playing 3-4 Dman minutes before he can demand to be paid like one...

Knowing teams never really trade core players, I would always offer sheet the best players available if I needed a player.
- SPIDEROCKSTAR

I do wonder why more offer sheets don't get thrown around.

10 years, 90 million for Stamkos and you'd have a franchise player with 60 goal, Hart Trophy candidate upside.

Doughty, Subban... You find guys like that so rarely that the draft picks aren't comparable. How many Doughty or Stamkos types have we drafted in the last 20 years?

Why would we trade our best D-man, who plays more minutes than any other to get a 3-4 shutdown guy.

I love the idea of getting someone like Murray, but no way in hell you trade Dion to make it happen...

How are they going to pay Dion 7 plus mil after next year when they are up against the cap?

He was a healthy scratch under Ron the tard Wilson, as will be his argument.

For a start, the cap will (almost certainly) go up. So all you have to do is fit in the extra 0.5-1m and you're set. Let's say that the cap goes back to 70m, that still leaves enough to sign Phil as well and have some additional wiggle room, especially with most of the rest of the core forwards locked in.

We will be getting 2.5 million cleared off the books, plus however much the cap increases. Let's say $3.5 to 4 million.

So, that's about 6 million bucks. More than enough for raises. I think Phaneuf would take an extension of his current deal, anyway.

Yup. And it won't hold. There's still chance to fit to the coach's expectations, and he didn't do that.

We all know that Ron was a tard with respect to defense, but Franson still could, and should, have played better...

Liles was great before the concussion.

Say a little prayer every night that he can find his game again.

Kessel, Bolland, Reimer, and Phaneuf are the big ones.

Kessel will get a 2.5 million dollar raise. Phaneuf's new deal would be a marginal increase at best. Reimer might go up to Bernier's salary if he plays as well.

Bolland is a wild card, but he'll likely end up in the mid 4's.

I'm not seeing a problem next year with 6+ extra to spend.

True. We should also be able to bring up a couple of the kids as low cost options too..

I'd think Nonis probably has that pencilled in just to be safe, though I'm sure he'd prefer to be closer to 14.

He's got good taste in movies, but no ability to think ahead.

Everybody talks about how introverted Kessel is, but isn't it nice to have a guy who just shuts his mouth and gets to work?

Odds are one of his friends picked up his phone and made the tweets as a prank.

Fixed

And agreed about Kessel. Manchester United had a guy called Paul Scholes play for about 17 years for them, same deal. Quality player, but a quiet guy who never gave interviews, but was always a total professional

Probably but that tweet still sounds like the kind of prank a stupid friend would pull more than anything.
