I agree. Don't know what I said to make you think otherwise.
But if they're bumped up and start facing tougher competition.. Don't be shocked if they don't look as good as last year.
Not saying they aren't up for it, it's just an unknown is all. - Dozzer
Phaneuf will always be facing the other teams best. I don't see that changing. Gunnarsson will be back to play with him. Add Whitney to play with Rielly ( ) and Liles at 7. |

You are high on life my friend. There's no way Liles is sticking around. We get another compliance buyout if two RFAs get awarded arbitration (three filed) and we'll use the 3rd to dump Liles. |

I don't see any point of rushing Rielly, let him develop the strength to handle the NHL. |

Honestly... you guys did great in landing him. I will not bash Philly or Vinny just because I'm jealous we didn't get him. I would have licked his left testicle to get him.
To all delusional Leafers out there I'll put this into perspective...
What would you rather have centering your 1st line?
@4.5 million, A Vet in his early 30's who is a former 1st overall pick who can provide leadership who scored 50+ goals, 100+ points, and has a Stanley Cup ring.
Orrrrr....
For just 300 grand less... Tyler (frank)ing Ballsack?
- Tee-Dot
Vinny hasn't been Vinny for nearly half a decade.
Yeah, he's undoubtedly better than Bozak, but Bozak only has 6 fewer points over the past two seasons.
Bozak's deal will get better with time. Vinny's will get worse. Things will equalize in the end.

And we were never getting Vinny; I doubt he wanted to play here at all.

For a laugh check out the "Line Combos: It's that time again ..." thread on HF Boards. Wow, some seriously warped line combos and moves in there. |

And you've got to think he'd struggle here if he really is that averse to pressure. I don't believe he ever wants to be a #1C again. |

Listen.. I'd love for rielly to be ready.. Package liles and gardiner together for a big return.. But.. He isn't ready imo.. Looked a bit lost in his first pro games from the highlights I saw
Moments of his ceiling certainly, but I don't know if he's ready yet. We'll see come training camp I suppose |

So piss off the three rfa's in negotiations just to get another buyout?
Yeah... No. If liles was a buyout target he would of been bought out already. Komi would of been bought out using traditional methods.
Liles is either going to be traded or he'll be in the blue n white again next year |

This this and more this
We need steadiness on the back end.. Not another pmd when there is already two. |

Where are you getting that from? They filed for arbitration; if it goes that far, and they're awarded arbitration, we get another buy-out.

We might find a suitor for Liles, but look at September 4th:
http://www.nhl.com/nhlhq/...critical_dates072205.html - gravyface
but that says nothing of compliance buyouts. I know that there was a second window for buyouts after the arbs are over. But it's not compliance. |

I thought it was, although I can't find anything concrete, because teams would have no control over salary arbitration awards and couldn't possibly address a cap issue before the compliance buyout window ends. |

Yes, but if three rfa's go to arbitration that would signal that the club is low balling all of them after whipping out the cheque books for ufa signings.
That would leave a sour taste in my mouth. Meh.
Either way, it's not something I would deliberately do just to buyout liles. |
