Let's just look at the Bozak signing this way:

First of all, no. 1 centres don't grow on trees. With teams like DET, PHI, PIT etc hording 2 no. 1 centres, we can't really complain. Face it, we're not getting a no. 1 centre without paying up the ass via the trade market.

Second, Bozak's deal, compared to Grabs, and what Weiss, Filpulla etc got is decent.

Third, without signing Bozak, getting Phil on board would have been a lot more difficult than we can imagine. Face it, Phil wasn't totally sold on re-upping, and losing his best pal makes that a lot more difficult.

Meh, Tyler's 3 years younger, has only a couple seasons of experience in the NHL, and is still learning. I think he'll pretty much emerge as a 60-70pt guy like Weiss after next season.

I guessing, but I believe Luke Schenn's time in Toronto would have been very different if Carlyle had had him since he came into the league.

His start with Carlyle wasn't great either. Really didn't use his size at all and didn't look at all confident. Enter Mark Fraser to allow Franson to play his game and play with confidence even using the body. IMO not enough gets said about this. Sign Fraser.
