Macarthur is one of those guys that put up nice stats on a terrible team. Once the Leafs got more talent, he couldn't keep a top 6 role anymore.

His loss isn't a big deal.

Sens made the playoffs because they had the hottest goaltending in the league from both goalies.

period.

Odds are that doesn't happen again.

wings best players were both over PPG last year.

odds are it doesn't happen again?

Anderson has been doing it since he got there....also Ottawa has good coaching and play good defensive hockey..I say it happens again this year, easily with Spezza back / Michalek back / Bobby Ryan there now...you can think what you want but Detroit just got older and the Sens got younger and I wouldn't say lost much between Ryan/Alfie...

Ottawa has a solid up and coming team. I'm not convinced Detroit is better.

Murray told Alfie's agent just to name what he wanted and the deal was done.

I think he visited Detroits "Seniors Residents" Locker Room and liked what they had set up. ie. Shuffleboard - Indoor Pool - Free Nacho's on Thursdays - Bus rides into town so he could give up his car - etc etc.

Uh, yes. Detroit barely made the playoffs. Ottawa has more talent.

Wings won a round and just about knocked off the champs.

So I disagree.

Ottawa finished 7th, 1 point out of 8th... same as Detroit.

So apparently the new CBA states that if two players are awarded arbitration, we're allowed another compliance buyout so if we can't move Liles now, bye bye buyout.

But we'll need it because if you look at Gunnar's and Franson's stats, those guys could very well be awarded 4M per. Fraser might be the odd man out too.

But I guess for all our undervaluing of our players, this would mean (and Nonis said the same thing) we're actually pretty decent on the backend.

if he plays like he did in 2011-2012, they don't make the playoffs this year.

Also, they got top 5 goaltending from their backup when he went down... that is the part less likely to happen again.

Detroit arguably got better with Alfie and Weiss vs Filpulla.

Yes and Dats and Zetterberg only played 28 games combined, right?

Detroit had it's days...they are no longer the powerhouse they were with the BEST DEFENCEMAN IN THE LEAGUE. You can only get lucky every 30 or 40 years with your 6th/7th round picks becoming your #1 #2 guy on the team IMHO

ya you guys had a pretty good day.

If only Clarkson had grown up idolizing Messier instead of Clarke, you guys would have run the table on players we wanted

My grammar and spelling is horrible but mispelling Clark's last name is unacceptable.

Yeah, Lupul and JVR made him expendable and unlike Kulemin, he's not a good fit on the 3rd line in a Carlyle top 6/bottom 6 configuration.

They haven't drafted a Lidstrom, Datsyuk, or Zetterberg since they drafted Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg.

That's the main issue.

he just seems to do everything the way I wished the leafs would do it.

He was stockpiling prospects even when the senators were doing well, so the rebuild/retool was seamless. Loses his captain and replaces him instantly with one of the best young power forwards in the league. Has always had a lot of D prospects, and he actually knows how to stockpile top end draft picks too. I think it goes a long way in negotiations when your just known around the league as a good guy, I don't think Burke's standoffish personality helped him at all.

Not the management, even though they have lost both Nill and Yzerman now, but they're an aging team
