What's a realistic expectation for Clarkson stat wise? 20 goals? 40-50 pts? I'm assuming he'll be playing with Kadri and who? JvR? - weirdoh
I would say you are about right.

Didn't dominate at the AHL level - honesthockey
Why, because you can't find stats that say so? I go to Marlies games regularly and Jake Gardiner skated circles around everyone else on the ice. The only thing that kept his stats down was the fact that the only player who could keep up with his skating and instincts was Kadri. He'd make amazing plays to guys like Zigomanis or Acton for example, and they'd bobble it.
As I've said before, if you just quote stats without any actual knowledge of how the games played then I can't see anyone taking your opinion seriously. |

Age at which they started
Doughty 19
Bagosian 19
Peiterangelo 20
Karlsson 19
If he is ready let him play...... At least keep him for the first few games then send him back if he is not ready..... - jribout
so the fact he was only able to get 3 points in 16 games at the pro level doesnt send up a red flag as to how he isnt ready?
it does for me. |

That's why:
Clarkson-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-JVR
And I don't give a (frank) who plays what wing.
Bozak works with Kessel and Kadri seemed to be good with Lupul. - honesthockey
Exactly..your gonna pay Bozak and then not play him with his g/f Kessel? |

He wan't ready last year, I doubt he's ready this year. But you know how quickly young players can improve, so I won't say it's an impossibility that he makes it. I'd rather he didn't though, I think the Oilers made the mistake of rushing kids like Hall and RNH who weren't physically mature enough and they were consequently injured. |

Fraser put up 5 in 30..... so no... how he does defensively is what I am worried about..... If Carlyle gives him the green light I would imagine he has shown something that suggests he might be ready and deserves a chance.... |

Right. So more deflections and rhetoric? Atta boy.
I'm a hockey fan, whose favourite team are the Habs. I'm honest enough to acknowledge that the Briere signing is terrible without getting my panties all bunched up about it. Why don't you hike up your skirt and join me? - oniremosewa
You wear panties? When there's nothing there to support? Why? What a waste...a panty waste as a matter of fact |

yup, exactly
we dont need his skills on the big club.. he isnt old enough to be a full timer on the marlies.. send him back to jr and let him dominate
he would have to outplay both liles and gardiner by a mile to make the leafs.. its not going to happen |

All I'm going to say is that next year is going to be tough to make the playoffs. The Leafs didn't exactly improve all that much overall, just became more tough. Meanwhile, Detroit, Columbus, Boston, Ottawa, Philadelphia all improved themselves, even more so than the Leafs. Going to be a long year, especially if Clarkson gets injured...... |

fraser and rielly are completely different d-men
rielly is a PMD, fraser is a shut down stay at home guy who is actually a grown man and not a kid.. you cant even begin to compare the two |

if clarkson gets hurt it won't matter much tbh. he's not a gamebreaker or a guy that's gonna score a clutch goal. he's a 3rd liner and that's it unfortunately. you guys are gonna be like whadafug did we pay so much for this guy for 10 games into the season |

He is a lot different than both Liles and Gardiner... he is much more defensively oriented.... and has offensive upside....
Liles 5'10" 185
Gardiner 6'1" 173
Rielly 6"0 205 I bet he shows up at camp at least 210 probably 215 and maybe 220
I am not saying keep him, what I am saying is lets not make a decision right now.... wait until training camp and exhibition games.... |

I'm in agreement with you, just saying we're going to have a hole in the #2 RW spot, him leaving the Devils as well, doesn't make or break that team either. |

nobody thinks he is the core of a line.. he compliments other players
he brings what the leafs were lacking.. which was a guy who can open up ice for the more talented players.. nobody expects him to be an all star
at least they shouldnt
another thing that i pointed out before that he never got a true shot to play top 6 til deboer became the coach... who just so happened to be his jr coach.
some guys just need a legit shot is all. and once he was given his... he made the most of it |

oh i play him in preseason and send him back to jr
i already know it would be a huge mistake for him to be played in nhl
for every guy that was a success at such a young age there are 5 who got messed up because of being rushed
it would be a mistake. |

Maybe, but he's in a unique spot as our forwards go. His job will be to knock in rebounds and stick up for Kadri. If he can pot 20-25 and be that "Don't (frank) with my team" presence that we lacked last year the 5m will not seem as high. Term seems to be everyone's concern. |

None of that is going to matter much when we're playing against better teams. Boston and Ottawa got much better yesterday. |

if he can consistently pot 20+ for you guys then that deal will be well worth it. but i just don't see it happening. not trolling, just letting you guys know what i saw from him cuz i watched him A LOT when he was on the devils. like almost every game. |

We have improved our top 9 significantly based on needs...... and our goaltending depth is much better also..... Hopefully our D improves with experience Franson, Gardiner, and Gunner are all young guys who are still RFA's and although I wish we would trade him maybe liles bounces back he was a plus 4 in the playoffs |

I just feel like better options were out there, we didn't upgrade significantly over what we had, in my opinion. Other teams did. |

I don't think Ottawa is significantly better than Toronto. You can't compare Clarkson to Ryan just because they changed teams on the same day. You can compare Ryan to JVR or Kessel as a 1st line winger, and you'd have to try pretty hard to convince me that Ryan is a vast improvement on either of them. |
