I have the privilege of watching boatloads of ACTUAL HOCKEY PLAYERS all the time. I just so happen to also structure my opinion on hockey players based on their ability to play the finer points of the game. You know? Defense? The thing Jones isn't particularly good at. I don't even know where you get off insinuating that Hall is the only player I appreciate because there are plenty of others.


Yeah, I'll admit that he's worked out reasonably well all things considered. That being said, I still don't like the player.


I can't believe you'd even suggest this. Yeah, he's miles better than me at hockey, and he's got some pretty greasy flow, but I have nothing to be jealous about. Jealousy is a stupid emotion that does nothing for anyone.

On a final note, I'd like to revise what I said in the comment that sparked this whole sh!tstorm. When I siad"he's a bad hockey player", I should've instead stated that he was, in my opinion, the wrong type of player for what we should be looking for. Whether I like it not, though, he's back on a 1-year deal. Hopefully he can work on his defensive game a bit more and show better under a stricter coach.

Vanek for one yr is scary. he wont resign anytime soon... still he would help this team, and he is a 40 goal scorer wit size.

I dont think he's particularly good either, but a 4th line role could suit him better and if he stops cherry picking and focuses on his own end, then he could be of use. At worst, he's an extra forward that you can walk away from next summer.

Oh so lets run him out of town then. When you have this many holes on a team, finding serviceable isn't a bad thing. Plus why shouldn't he get 15 goal/year a guy money. How many Oilers have scored 15 goals or more in the past 3 years. Go back past his injury and the same bone heads where wanting to trade him too because he didn't do something that they wanted.

I personally think this line up has potential to compete for a spot. The oiler d would have to get it done by committe, we need all d men to play hard minutes and work well together and not get attached to their partner.

I am not against nick schultz leaving, maybe a good package involving Hemsky and a prospect can get us that 2LW. After that we could sign a 5/6 d man or whatever and replace him there

The thing is we won't have a minute eater on the team. They have to get it done as a unit and it's the best we can do right now unless we want to creat more holes by filling one.

Mac t knew what he was doing at the draft, he tried to refil the pool, truth is we didn't have enough prospects of value to trade. So what he did is filled it. They won't be useful this year, but trading a guy like Eberle or yak for a top pairing guy doesn't make sense if we are just going to open a can of worms on who plays wing in the top six

With 1 year left on both guys and top 6 in cap space we could eat a mil of each and be fine if it gets us the guy we want.

I'm sure Hemsky (1mil retained) nick Schultz (1 mil retained) marincin and a 2nd could net us a pretty solid player. Not sure which team would be a good match but that is a very good package if Hemsky gets salary, we could even add in a condional pick where they get another second or whatever if Hemsky doesn't play 50+ games
