this is true. I never really take into account the rising cap.
I see 5+ for 7 years for a 29 year old who's career high is 46 points and I immediately think that's insane.
however, unless the cap is somewhere astronomical around 75-80 (which is entirely plausible) I think nonis might be rethinking that term when hes paying a 36 year old 3rd liner 5+ to get 30 points. - hugefemale dog77
reminds me of horcoff. |

Bad at hockey and likes to cherry pick and exit the D zone early. Not quite what I'm looking for unless it comes down to necessity. - MaximumBone
Of course it isn't but like most Oilers fan you wouldn't have a clue about real hockey players if they kicked you in the groin.
Jones is a serviceable 3rd 4th line guy. Good attitude. Had a rough year last year but otherwise has been one of the best bottom six guy on this team for a few years. Keeping him is not a failure.
Of course since I don't live in Edmonton I'm not all the eager to run out serviceable NHL players like the rest of the masses. |

Not sure what you're expecting to come from free agency RC. Mac T and Scott Howson have both said numerous times that they feel building a hockey team through free agency is the wrong route because more often than not you highly over pay. Their "big fish" was Clarkson and they missed out (might be a blessing in disguise as it sounds like they offered him upwards of 6 mill per). Look for Mac T to improve this club in different ways now, Much like he said in his presser yesterday. You've been writing the same thing over and over just changing the wording. Relax! it's July 6th. |

hahaha for sure. Even yesterday I was thinking Clarkson is ripe for that big payday - new team/ new culture dip - but the guy eats children for fun.
I wouldn't be surprised IF Mac-T went to 5.5 on him for five years. I mean, talk about the exact guy we need in the top-six.
It goes both ways, wish we had him but could be breathing a sigh of relief... |

There'd be nothing wrong with a one or two year contract. He could play centre on the second line and we could shift Gagner to the wing. - mbxiphos1527
Sure except GAGNER DOESN"T PLAY WING. no wonder this team sucks so bad. To many idiots trying to make guys play out of position. |

Would you move Yak, Hall, or Eb, for a player like Bobby Ryan?
Honest question. - Deadmau55
Of course not but I'm sure you'd get multiple offers with Hemsky, Omark and scrap meat in it.
The method of giving up quality to get quality is lost on most Oilers fans. |

Could've swore he played wing at one point.
Don't see how stating my opinion on a blog makes me an idiot though. |

They tried, he failed, get over it. Personally I think he's gone before the end of the season and I wish him good luck. I bet he would love to play for a team that likes him for what he can do instead of hates him for what he can't do.
Wouldn't be the first good player ran out of Edmonton by fans. |

How about Sam gagner for Patrick berglund from the blues. Berglund is 6'3 217ibs. Has offensive upside not as productive as Sam gagner but could be a good fit if blues would go for it |

General Statement. Hall to Center, Gagner to Wing, Peckham to Wing, Richard to president of the Oilers. Not sure why fans of this team are so eager to change peoples positions on this team. |

not preferable but yes...Ebs or Yak. Not Hall. Not RNH.
That's one of those deals we may have to make in a couple years. - Salvo
Fair enough. The whole "untouchable" thing just gets stale.
Are Kopitar, Quick, Doughty, untouchable? No.
Is it likely they get moved? No.
Same with your guys. I just don't think Nurse, or Kelfbom fall into that catagory. |

Ah I didn't realize. Too bad. Be nice upgrade in size. Just seems odd gagner hasn't been signed yet. Some issues happening, one would think they might be having talks to move him to fill another void or something. |

No Oilers fans just piss me off. You want to fix the team, clear out management. Katz is taking the city to the cleaners on the new arena deal. Lots of players I like on this team but sick of fans trying to make them into something they aren't or wanting to reward some of the Joke vetrens because they where her for the bad times.
I will admit that MacT surprised me the last 2 days. But I'm still not optimistic. He can have his due when they make the playoff. Until then this is still the worst team in the past 6 years.

Is Smackintire around? we need someone like him.. but could be better if he had hockey skills to, that guy sure could knock some heads. - The_Hinter
I rather make a trade and take a chance on a player like Pat Maroon. Scored in the ahl and played physical at the nhl. 6'4" 225lbs he could be what we need.
Dwight King comes to mind as well. Those guys can take the big boys when needed but will play 10 mins a nightaybe even filling a 2nd line void in a year or 2 |

What was your take on the Chicago series? The crowns seemed...tired...I recall one third period, perhaps game 4, where CHI came out, took over and won. It just seemed like at that point LA was playing like it was double OT. |

Well, you've touched on a lot there Mr. Nutz. I'll add that we could certainly use a little more Florida Panther in our fanaticism. |

I like how Clouts calls the free agent list frightening when all of those players would make the Oilers better in some way. Except Alex Ponikarovsky that is. |

I hate these self righteous know it all type comments. you've made about 3 already today.
since it was the bobby ryan post u decided to comment on and shower us with your wisdom; Bobby Ryan actually DIDNT go for anyone of hall or ebs caliber.
or for the proven star 'quality' that you speak of.
not to say he didn't go for a very good package;
but he went for a good prospect/unproven young roster player, a first rounder and another prospect.
and I also think these type of deals are exactly what a lot of posters were hoping for pre draft for the oilers.
a solid prospect like marincin, even klefbom and our first etc.
instead of building through the core that we're just putting together, attempt to use other valuable tradeable assets like the first to build around said core
thanks for education though |
